  1. 6. Chemical Kinetic Modeling of the Combustion of NH3/H2 and NH3/syngas Fuel Mixtures Using a Large Amount of Experimental Data

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Kemiska institutionen

    Author : Andras Szanthoffer; [2022]
    Keywords : Ammonia combustion; Detailed chemical kinetic mechanisms; Quantitative mechanism comparison; Local sensitivity analysis; Chemical Physics; Chemistry;

    Abstract : Nowadays, due to the global climate change, it is extremely important to find alternative fuels to reduce the utilization of fossil fuels and the emission of air pollutants such as carbon dioxide (CO2), hydrocarbon pollutants, and soot. Ammonia (NH3) is a promising carbon free fuel candidate that can store and transport renewable hydrogen (H2) energy. READ MORE

  2. 7. Purification of Volatile Organic Compounds in Channeled Ventilation Pipes at the Sysav Water Treatment Plant for Hazardous Waste

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Kemiteknik (CI)

    Author : Erik Wiktorsson; [2022]
    Keywords : VOC; Zeolite; Catalytic combustion; Sysav; Chemical Engineering; Chemistry; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Several channeled emissions at the Sysav water treatment plant for hazardous waste as of December 2021 exceed permitted levels of unknown volatile organic compounds (VOCs) stated in the European Parliament councils’ directives 2010/75/EU. A range of possible treatment methods are briefly discussed before zeolite adsorption, and thermal regeneration followed by catalytic combustion is decided to be the method of greatest feasibility and is the subject of further investigation. 3. 8. Air Recirculation System for Electrolyte Filling Room : A CFD study of VOCs Distribution in Clean & Dry room

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för industriell teknik och management (ITM)

    Author : Lin Chen; [2022]
    Keywords : Clean Dry room; Air Recirculation; Air Recovery; ANSYS FLUENT; Energy-saving; Environmental impact; Building Automation system; Rent torrt rum; luftåtercirkulation; luftåtervinning; ANSYS FLUENT; energibesparande; miljöpåverkan; byggnadsautomationssystem;

    Abstract : Energy storage development is an important step for the energy transition, meanwhile Lithium-ion battery is the most common core component of electric vehicles. Over the past decade, investment has been poured into lithium-ion battery production, as a result, the production environment (Clean & Dry room) used for some processes such as Stacking, Electrolyte filling and so on and the energy consumption to maintain this special environment which precise control of air humidity and air cleanliness have become major concerns. 4. 9. Analysis of polyfunctional thiols in beer : Developing a novel method of extraction and analysis using GC-FID

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Livsmedelsteknik och nutrition (master)

    Author : Arvid Lindmark; [2022]
    Keywords : Beer; Hops; Thiols; 3MHA; 4MMP; Food Technology; Agriculture and Food Sciences;

    Abstract : In this project, attempts were made to identify and quantify two polyfunctional thiols – 4-mercapto-4-methyl-pentanone and 3-mercaptohexyl acetate – and three monoterpene alcohols – linalool, geraniol, and β-citronellol – in beer samples. In order to avoid the use of hazardous compounds such as dichloromethane and hydroxymercuriobenzoate, common in traditional methods, two novel techniques were tested: a pure liquid-liquid extraction of the beer samples with cyclohexane, and a liquid-liquid extraction with cyclohexane followed by solid phase extraction on silver ion columns. 5. 10. Effects of plant-fungal interactions on volatile emission of Hordeum vulgare and aphid preference

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Ecology

    Author : Bina Johansson; [2022]
    Keywords : volatile organic compounds; chemical communication; Trichoderma atroviride; Fusarium graminearum; Rhopalosiphum padi; biological control;

    Abstract : Barley is one of the most economically important cultivated crops in the world. However, barley is a host for many insect pests and plant pathogenic fungi which is a threat to the production. Rhopalosiphum padi is an economically important insect pest that leads to large economical losses in agricultural crops such as barley. READ MORE
