  1. 16. Sensitivity Analysis for Ascending Zero Pressure Balloons

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Rymdteknik

    Author : Carl Olsson; [2019]
    Keywords : Zero-pressure balloons; sensitivity analysis; ascent;

    Abstract : This work analysed the sensitivity in ascending velocity for three different zero pressure balloons of different sizes. A program that considers the atmospheric and thermodynamic conditions was written to try and simulate the balloons ascent throughout the atmosphere. READ MORE

  2. 17. The effects of fatigue during deep metro evacuations and its implications on evacuation modelling tools

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Brandteknik

    Author : Alejandra Velasco; [2018]
    Keywords : stair-ascent evacuation; stair evacuation modelling; stairs; physiology; fire safety engineering; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : The thesis purpose is to determine how people’s evacuation performance is affected by carrying weight while performing a stair-climbing motion. The fire safety engineering and physiology fields are merged to increase the knowledge regarding ascending evacuation. READ MORE

  3. 18. Behaviour of Boron Isotopes During Magmatic Degassing and Application to B-Rich Volcanic Glassfrom Lesbos, Greece

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Author : Konstantinos Thomaidis; [2017]
    Keywords : boron isotopes; volcanic glass; SIMS; magmatic degassing; Lesbos Island; borisotoper; vulkaniskt glas; SIMS; magmatisk avgasning; Lesbos;

    Abstract : Boron is a fluid mobile trace element and is routinely employed as a tracer of slab-derived fluids in subduction zones since the heavy isotope (11B) preferentially partitions into the fluid phase during slab dehydration. However, it has been shown experimentally that boron isotopes (expressed as δ11B) can fractionate by up to several permil (‰) during subsequent magmatic evolution and degassing at high temperature, calling into doubt the fidelity of boron isotopes in volcanic glass as accurate tracers of slab degassing. 4. 19. Fluid motion analysis in the cryogenic tanks of the upperstage of Ariane 5 during the ascent phase

    University essay from KTH/Aerodynamik

    Author : Christophe Montsarrat; [2017]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : In the frame of the improvement of the performances for Ariane 5, an analysis iscarried out to explain the pressure drop observed in the ascent phase of some flights inthe liquid hydrogen (LH2) tank of the upper stage. This stage is mainly idle until therocket is out of the atmosphere but is submitted to important excitation throughoutthe ascent phase in the atmosphere. READ MORE

  5. 20. Dynamics of staircases : A case study to improve finite element modeling

    University essay from KTH/Bro- och stålbyggnad

    Author : Lisa Andersson; [2017]
    Keywords : staircase; dynamics; natural frequency; vibration analysis; human introduced loads; FE-modeling; trappa; dynamik; egenfrekvens; vibrationsanalys; dynamiska laster; FE-modellering;

    Abstract : Vibrations in staircases have during the last decades become an important issue in design. The main reasons are current architectural trends aiming for innovative, slender and high staircases, together with developments in material properties and building technique, making these aims possible.
