  1. 21. Changes in adipose tissue mRNA expression due to perinatal exposure to bisphenol A in rats

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för kvinnors och barns hälsa

    Author : Gunilla Chen; [2014]
    Keywords : Obesity; endocrine disruptor; metabolism; PPARγ; estrogen receptors;

    Abstract : Bisphenol A (BPA) is an estrogen receptor binding chemical, widely used in the plastics industry, and as such commonly encountered from plastic containers etc. Even at very low doses, BPA is believed to induce obesity and to have various endocrine disruptive effects. READ MORE

  2. 22. The application of MnO2 and KMnO4 for persistent organic compounds and COD removals in wastewater treatment process.

    University essay from KTH/VA-teknik, Vatten, Avlopp och Avfall

    Author : Aileen Hendratna; [2011]
    Keywords : COD; KMnO4; MnO2; Oxidation; Organic compounds;

    Abstract : This study examines the use of MnO2 and KMnO4 as strong oxidants to remove specific recalcitrant organic compounds and COD from wastewater. These compounds are deemed as potential and more cost-effective treatment in encountering the challenge to remove Pharmaceuticals and Personal Care Products (PPCPs) and Endocrine Disrupter Compounds (EDCs) in wastewater to meet water reuse standard. 3. 23. Osteoblast Behaviour on Injectable Biomaterials Intended for Augmentation of Vertebral Compression Fractures

    University essay from Institutionen för fysik, kemi och biologi

    Author : Sandra Ramstedt; [2007]
    Keywords : vertebral compression fractures; osteoblasts; injectable biomaterials; Ca-aluminate; Bis-GMA; PMMA; cell studies;

    Abstract : Biomaterials used for stabilization of compressed vertebraes due to osteoporosis, have mainly been based on resin materials, like PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate), but have recently expanded to consist of injectable ceramics, such as calcium-aluminate. In this in vitro study human osteoblast-like cells, MG-63, were cultured on three different injectable biomaterials based on: Ca-aluminate, Bis-GMA (bisphenol A-glycidylmethacrylate) and PMMA, to investigate the cellular response elicited by these materials.
