  1. 16. Improving the Accuracy of FFT-based GPGPU Ocean Surface Simulations

    University essay from Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för data- och informationsteknik

    Author : Jacob Eriksson; Joakim Wingård; [2022-12-01]
    Keywords : computer graphics; 3D graphics; real-time rendering; Fourier transform; FFT; simulation; GPGPU; interactive; ocean wave spectrum; oceanography;

    Abstract : In this paper, we explore how the current state of the art in real-time ocean simulations can be improved in terms of simulation accuracy, while preserving performance. Current methods, both in academia and in the industry, simulate an ocean model in frequency space on the GPU, convert said model on an approximately frame-byframe basis to the spatial domain using the Fourier transform, and then read back the resulting heightfield to the CPU as input to the application’s physics engine. 2. 17. Next Generation Helm : Improving the user experience inside a boat helm

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för ekonomi, teknik, konst och samhälle

    Author : Emil Thyni; [2022]
    Keywords : Marine vessel; Boats; Controls; Industrial design engineering; boat helm; User experience.; Marina fordon; Båtar; Styrdon; Kontroller; Teknisk design; Förarmiljö; Användarupplevelse;

    Abstract : The design and functionality of the controls inside a boat helm are a big part of the user experience for operators. This master thesis focuses on the boat helm and the equipment from Volvo Penta placed in it. READ MORE

  3. 18. Changes in cetacean presence and behavior in response to reduced marine traffic - the effects of a nationwide lockdown

    University essay from Högskolan i Halmstad

    Author : Lisa Falk Lindberg; Lindqvist Erika; [2022]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Creating noise-pollution and other disturbances, marine traffic poses a great threat to marine mammals all over the world which may demonstrate through short- and long-term changes in behavior and distribution. The Covid-19 lockdown in 2020 provided a setting to study the effects of marine traffic on cetacean presence and interactive behavior. READ MORE

  4. 19. Research of alternative methods of marine litter collection : Study of marine plastic pollution

    University essay from KTH/Maskinkonstruktion (Inst.)

    Author : Ciaran Conway; Aydar Gaynullin; [2022]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The discovery of plastic and its unique qualities created a great opportunity for manufacturing and an improved quality of life. The annual production of plastic is 368 million tonnes, this number is continuously increasing as nowadays almost every product has a plastic component in it. However, this improvement in lifestyle comes at a cost. READ MORE

  5. 20. Towards Deep Learning Accelerated Sparse Bayesian Frequency Estimation

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Matematisk statistik

    Author : Mika Persson; [2022]
    Keywords : Bayesian Statistics; Deep Learning; Frequency Estimation; Generative Adversarial Networks; Artificial Neural Networks; Statistical Modelling; Mathematics and Statistics;

    Abstract : The Discrete Fourier Transform is the simplest way to obtain the spectrum of a discrete complex signal. This thesis concerns the case when the signal is known to contain a small (unknown) number of frequencies, not limited to the discrete Fourier frequencies, embedded in complex Gaussian noise.
