  1. 1. Qualification of a Physical Model of Cladding Creep During Dry Storage of Spent Nuclear Fuel

    University essay from KTH/Fysik

    Author : Robin Andersson; [2022]
    Keywords : Dry Storage; Thermal Creep; Zircaloy-4; Pellet-Cladding Interaction; Torrt Förvar; Termisk Krypning; Zircaloy-4; Kuts-Kapsling Interaktion;

    Abstract : In dry interim storage of spent nuclear fuel, thermal creep is one of the major threats to the fuel cladding integrity due to the constant decay heat generation from the fission products and minor actinides in the fuel, and the increase in fuel rod internal pressure which is present after burnup. Plenty of research has been done on either empty cladding tubes irradiated in a research reactor, or on spent fuel that is defueled prior to the examination. READ MORE

  2. 2. Determining the Sensitivity of Reactor Parameters in a Sodium Cooled Fast Reactor

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Tillämpad kärnfysik

    Author : Alexander Palfelt; Wilhelm Thunberg; Anders Winka; [2020]
    Keywords : serpent; SFR; sodium cooled fast reactor; generation 4;

    Abstract : The sensitivity of two operational output parameters, criticality and isotopic composition during burnup, to specific design and operational reactor parameters in a Sodium Cooled Fast Reactor, is investigated. The computational simulation tool Serpent is used. READ MORE

  3. 3. Monte Carlo Simulations of Bowing Effects Using Realistic Fuel Data in Nuclear Fuel Assemblies

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Tillämpad kärnfysik

    Author : Marcus Westlund; [2019]
    Keywords : bowing effects; fuel assembly perturbations; nuclear; serpent; monte carlo;

    Abstract : Deformations of nuclear fuel assemblies have been observed in nuclear power plants since the mid-90s. Such deformations are generally called bowing effects. READ MORE

  4. 4. A Monte Carlo simulation study of collimators for a high-spatial-resolution Gamma Emission Tomography instrument

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Tillämpad kärnfysik

    Author : Anastasios Anastasiadis; [2019]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The present master thesis concerns a study of collimator designs for a high-spatial-resolution Gamma Emission Tomography (GET) instrument for used fuels utilizing Monte Carlo simulation codes. Designing a collimator for this purpose is a multilateral process that requires many interconnected and conflicting objectives to be taken into consideration. READ MORE

  5. 5. Nuclear reactor core model for the advancednuclear fuel cycle simulator FANCSEE. Advanceduse of Monte Carlo methods in nuclear reactorcalculations

    University essay from

    Author : Alexander Skwarcan-Bidakowski; [2017]
    Keywords : Nuclear; Reactor; Physics; simulation; FANCSEE; Serpent; energy; neutron; cross; section; Bateman; atom; isotope; fission; reaction; uranium; plutonium; capture; physics; power; calculation; burnup; Kärnkraft; Reaktor; Kärna; Simulering; FANCSEE; uran; pluton; Serpent; energi; atom; isotop; fisson; Bateman;

    Abstract : A detailed reactor core modeling of the LOVIISA-2 PWR and FORSMARK-3BWR was performed in the Serpent 2 Continuous Energy Monte-Carlocode.Both models of the reactors were completed but the approximations ofthe atomic densities of nuclides present in the core differedsignificantly.
