   Abstract : Research shows that phonological processing skill is the greatest single predictor for reading ability and it is agreed that phonological awareness specific tasks correlate positively with literacy acquisition in typically developing children. Children with Down’s syndrome are at risk for reading acquisition difficulties, primarily because of their reduced phonological awareness and a phonological awareness based approach to literacy has been shown to be beneficial for them.
