  1. 16. Opportunities for hybridization between two sympatric flounder (Platichthys flesus) ecotypes in the Baltic Sea

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för biologisk grundutbildning

    Author : Isa Wallin; [2016]
    Keywords : Flounder; ecology; hybridization; temperature; Baltic Sea;

    Abstract : The Baltic Sea flounder is separated into two ecotypes with different reproductive characteristics, one spawning off-shore at higher salinities and one spawning in coastal areas at lower salinities. However, coastal spawning flounder have also been found off-shore during the spawning season, especially in cold years, suggesting that the more stable temperatures in off-shore waters are more suitable for reproduction than in coastal areas during cold years. 2. 17. Resistensläget hos hästens lilla blodmask och attityder till avmaskning hos hästägare

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Biomedical Sciences and Veterinary Public Health

    Author : Mathilda Strandberg; [2016]
    Keywords : blodmask; strongylider; små blodmaskar; cyathostominer; avmaskning; resistens; fecal egg count reduction test; egg reapperance period; ivermektin; moxidektin; bloodworm; small strongyles; cyathostomin; deworming; resistance; ivermectin; moxidectin;

    Abstract : En kraftig överanvändning av avmaskningsmedel under 70-90- talet har gjort att hästens parasiter har utvecklat resistens mot avmaskningsmedel. Resistens mot avmaskningsmedel är ett växande problem i Sverige och stora delar av världen. READ MORE

  3. 18. Effect of land-use history and site-specific environmental factors on solitary bees and flower beetles in clear-cuts of boreal coniferous forest

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Biologi; Linköpings universitet/Tekniska fakulteten

    Author : Victor Eriksson; [2015]
    Keywords : Abundance; Clear-cut age; Community organization; Early successional habitats; Lepturinae; Pan-traps; Pollinators; Species richness;

    Abstract : Land-use history has been recognized as an important factor in shaping biological communities in clear-cuts. Many solitary bees and flower beetles (Cerambycidae: Lepturinae) are commonly found in clear-cuts, which serve as early successional habitats. READ MORE

  4. 19. Odour-mediated behaviour in codling moth, Cydia pomonella : do fermentation odours affect the attraction and oviposition behaviour in codling moth?

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Plant Protection Biology

    Author : Lillemor Torstensdotter; [2015]
    Keywords : Cydia pomonella; codling moth; fermentation; apples;

    Abstract : The codling moth, Cydia pomonella is a common pest in apple orchards and can be found worldwide. Feeding by codling moth larvae can cause a substantial decrease in apple yield. Control methods comprise for example the use of pesticides, viruses and pheromones. READ MORE

  5. 20. Effect of diet and density on larval immune response and larval and adult host-preference in Spodoptera littoralis

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Plant Protection Biology

    Author : Sophie Chattington; [2015]
    Keywords : artificial encapsulation; Egyptian cotton leafworm; immune response; innate preference hierarchy; larval density; larval development; larval memory; oviposition choice; phenoloxidase; Spodoptera littoralis; Y-tube;

    Abstract : Polyphagy presents difficulties to an insect, especially in terms of host choice. The adult insect must choose from a large number of possible host plant species, something which is considered to require extensive neural capacity to process. READ MORE
