  1. 6. A geological investigation on bedrock suitability for mineral carbonation conducted in the south central part of Sweden

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för samhällsbyggnad och naturresurser

    Author : Edvard Pearson; [2023]
    Keywords : Mineral carbonation; geological investigation; Åsensbruk; Falun; Grums; Öje; Skutskär;

    Abstract : Increasing global temperatures due to anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases is one of our times most dire and urgent challenges to overcome if we are to achieve a sustainable healthy planet. The primary way of accomplishing this is by reducing the amount of released greenhouse gases. READ MORE

  2. 7. Multiple-Emitter Super-resolution Imaging using the Alternating Descent Conditional Gradient Method

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Beräkningsbiologi och biologisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation; Lunds universitet/Institutionen för astronomi och teoretisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation

    Author : Dolev Illouz; [2023]
    Keywords : super-resolution; alternating descent conditional gradient method; ADCG; multiple-emitter localization; nanoscale imaging; single molecule tracking; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : This thesis examines the state-of-the-art 2D super-resolution technique alternating descent conditional gradient (ADCG) method's ability to accurately localize fluorophores in diffraction-limited single molecule images (SMI) and analyze the impact of pre-processing and post-processing modules on ADCG's fluorophore localization. A synthetic dataset obtained from the 2013 Grand Challenge localization microscopy and a temporally linked dataset obtained from an unpublished set of Optical DNA mapping experiments performed by Jonathan Jeffet at the NanoBioPhotonix Lab at Tel-Aviv University were initially segmented to extract their noise parameters. 3. 8. Investigating the potential of systematic optical petrography in a geometallurgical context : A case study on boulder characterization from Rajapalot property, Finland

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för samhällsbyggnad och naturresurser

    Author : Annie Björk; [2023]
    Keywords : Petrography; optical microscopy; scanning electron microscopy; geometallurgy; mining value chain; Peräpohja belt;

    Abstract : Geometallurgy describes a holistic approach to mining (integrating geological, metallurgical, geotechnical, environmental, and more parameters) with the goal to improve the efficiency and sustainability of a mining operation. The potential of systematic optical petrography in a geometallurgical context was investigated in this study, as well as how petrography may be useful across disciplines in several blocks of the mining value chain. 4. 9. Visualization, modeling and consequences of residual stresses in glass frit sealing of a UV light source

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Mikrosystemteknik

    Author : Vilma Hurtigh Grabe; [2023]
    Keywords : bonding; micro system; glass frit; sealing; finite element; modeling; glass; mikrosystem; sammanfogning; glasfog; fog; finita element; modellering; glas;

    Abstract : PureFize Technologies AB develops and manufactures a broadband ultraviolet (UVC) light technology device that is mercury-free and based on nanotechnology, using the principle of field emission. The light source is made of Ti and glass, which are hermetically bonded, using a low-temperature glass frit, at elevated temperatures. READ MORE

  5. 10. Influence from temperature variations in stacking fault energy on the mechanical properties of stainless steels

    University essay from KTH/Materialvetenskap

    Author : Christopher Hallén; Marcus Johansson Storne; [2023]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : This paper investigates the mechanical properties and deformation mechanisms of austenitic stainless steels and how they relate to the material property of stacking fault energy (SFE) and its relation to temperature and nickel content. Austenitic stainless steels are commonly used and well known for good mechanical properties and deformation characteristics. READ MORE
