  1. 11. Towards a Nuanced Evaluation of Voice Activity Detection Systems : An Examination of Metrics, Sampling Rates and Noise with Deep Learning

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Institutionen för datavetenskap

    Author : Ludvig Joborn; Mattias Beming; [2022]
    Keywords : voice activity detection; VAD; deep learning; machine learning; ML; artificial intelligence; AI; convolutional neural network; CNN; deep neural network; DNN; sound event detection; SED; mel spectrogram; audio processing; polyphonic sound detection score; PSDS; signal processing; signal to noise ratio; SNR; recurrent convolutional residual neural network; RCRNN; sampling rate; Gaussian noise;

    Abstract : Recently, Deep Learning has revolutionized many fields, where one such area is Voice Activity Detection (VAD). This is of great interest to sectors of society concerned with detecting speech in sound signals. One such sector is the police, where criminal investigations regularly involve analysis of audio material. READ MORE

  2. 12. E-noses equipped with Artificial Intelligence Technology for diagnosis of dairy cattle disease in veterinary

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Farbod Haselzadeh; [2021]
    Keywords : Artificial intelligence; Electronic nose; Gas sensor arrays; Principal component analysis; Autoencoder; Veterinary diagnose; Feature extraction; Dimentionality reduction; Normalization; Maskin intelligence; Artificial intelligence; Elektronisk näsa; Gas sensore array; Normalisering; dimensionalitetsminskning; Autoencoder; Klassificering AI; E-nose; Feature Extraction; Normalization; PCA; Autoencoder; Encoder; Decoder; MLP; Classifier; LDA; Support Vector Machine; Logistic Regression; Cross Validation; Signal segmentation;

    Abstract : The main goal of this project, running at Neurofy AB, was that developing an AI recognition algorithm also known as, gas sensing algorithm or simply recognition algorithm, based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology, which would have the ability to detect or predict diary cattle diseases using odor signal data gathered, measured and provided by Gas Sensor Array (GSA) also known as, Electronic Nose or simply E-nose developed by the company. Two major challenges in this project were to first overcome the noises and errors in the odor signal data, as the E-nose is supposed to be used in an environment with difference conditions than laboratory, for instance, in a bail (A stall for milking cows) with varying humidity and temperatures, and second to find a proper feature extraction method appropriate for GSA. 3. 13. Speaker Recognition using Biology-Inspired Feature Extraction

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för elektro- och informationsteknik

    Author : Edvin Andersson; [2021]
    Keywords : Artificial Intelligence; AI; Machine Learning; Speaker Recognition; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Distinguishing between people's voices is something the human brain does naturally, using only frequencies picked up by the inner ear. The field of speaker recognition is concerned with making machines do the same thing using digitally sampled speech and data processing. READ MORE

  4. 14. Fear of Failure in Swedish 9th Grade Students and its effect on their decision to study STEM : A quantitative study

    University essay from Linnéuniversitetet/Institutionen för kemi och biomedicin (KOB)

    Author : Melanie Büchele de Montes; [2021]
    Keywords : Imposter phenomenon; STEM attrition; Gender; gymnasieval;

    Abstract : Sweden faces a recruitment problem in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). It has been suggested that imposter phenomenon, a feeling of fraudulence and inability to internalize success, may be the reason why many individuals, especially women, leave STEM fields. READ MORE
