Abstract: To be able to plan different treatments, accurate data is required. The collection of data is often expensive and that's why the aim is to lower the inventory costs without loosing the accuracy of the data. Holmen Skog has in its strive to lower the costs, decided to evaluate two different methods for forest delineation, computer aided forest delineation and digital stereo view. This study's purpose is to evaluate these two methods in regard to usability for a beginner and how good the delineation gets. The soft ware that was used the computer aided forest delineation DianthusRaster Segmentering version 1.0 which is developed by Dianthus AB. For the stereo view a soft ware called EspaCity was used that is developed by ESPA Systems Ltd. Some delineation was made with the two different methods and were then evaluated. Notes about problems that occurred were taken during the work with the two methods. The conclusions are that the computer aided forest delineation need some further development before it can be used in the practical forestry and before using the stereo view method as a part of the forest inventory, a short introduction course is needed.
