Restoring Value : Homeschooling in the Context of the Devaluation of Reproductive Labor

Abstract: Homeschooling is becoming an increasingly popular education alternative in much of the developed world and the desire by parents to homeschool is slowly changing the perception of homeschooling and the laws that regulate and/or prohibit the practice. This paper examines the practice of homeschooling via a gendered lens and with clear recognition of the devaluation of reproductive labor within the modern, capitalist social context.
