  1. 1. Skapandet av en multifunktionell plantering : fokus på växter som gynnar pollinatörer och doft för ökad hälsa

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Urban and Rural Development

    Author : Vendela Ejmander; Terese Harborn; [2022]
    Keywords : Multifunktionell plantering; luktträning; pollinatörer; doft; ekosystemtjänster;

    Abstract : Luktsinnet har konstaterats vara ett betydelsefullt sinne i vår vardag. Naturdoft har i synnerhet visat sig ha en positiv inverkan för människans välmående. Vid gestaltning och planering av nya grönytor är dock synen det sinnet som prioriteras. READ MORE

  2. 2. Olfactory sensitivity of human subjects for six predator odorants

    University essay from Institutionen för fysik, kemi och biologi; Tekniska högskolan

    Author : Amir Sarrafchi; [2012]
    Keywords : Human olfactory sensitivity; predator odor; sulfur-containing odorant; sex difference;

    Abstract : The purpose of the present study was to determine olfactory detection thresholds in human subjects for a set of six sulfur-containing odorants which are known to be components of mammalian predator odors. Using a threealternative ascending staircase procedure, the olfactory sensitivity of 12 healthy adult human subjects, 6 males and 6 females was assessed with 2-propylthietane, 2,2-dimethylthietane, 3-mercapto-3-methylbutan-1-ol, 3-mercapto-3- methylbutyl formate, 3-methyl-1-butanethiol, and methyl-2-phenylethyl sulfide. 3. 3. Odor sensitivity in CD-1 mice for "green" odors

    University essay from Molekylär genetik

    Author : Sathish kumar Murali; [2011]
    Keywords : CD-1 mice; ―green‖ odors; Odor sensitivity and detection threshold values;

    Abstract : ―Green‖ odors comprise a group of eight structurally related aliphatic alkenals and alkenols which are characteristic for the odor of a wide variety of plant materials. Using an automated olfactometer, the olfactory detection thresholds for ―green‖ odors were determined in six CD-1 mice and compared with that of spider monkeys and human subjects. READ MORE

  4. 4. Olfactory sensitivity in CD-1 mice for six L- and D amino acids

    University essay from Institutionen för fysik, kemi och biologi

    Author : Helena Wallén; [2010]
    Keywords : Amino acid; Olfaction; CD-1 mice; olfactory receptor genes and sulphur- containing group.;

    Abstract : The olfactory sensitivity of five male CD-1 mice (Mus musculus) for six amino acids was determined using an operant conditioning paradigm. All animals significantly distinguished dilutions as low as 0.01 mM L-cysteine, 3.3 mM L-methionine, 10 mM L-proline, 0. READ MORE

  5. 5. Olfactory performance and neuropathology in the Tg6799 strain of Alzheimer’s disease model mice

    University essay from Institutionen för fysik, kemi och biologi

    Author : Hanna Österman; [2010]
    Keywords : 5xFAD; Alzheimer’s disease; amyloid precursor protein; amyloid β; cognitive impairment; olfactory deficit.;

    Abstract : The present study evaluated olfactory and cognitive abilities of the Tg6799 (also called 5xFAD) strain of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) model mice of two different age groups (2-3 and 8-10 months of age), and one group of healthy control mice (9-10 months). Employment of an operant conditioning paradigm using an automated olfactometer, an olfactory habituation/dishabituation test and a spatial learning test with non olfactory cues resulted in data showing that the 5xFAD mice develop olfactory impairments already at 2-3 months of age.
