  1. 1. Transient state UV spectroscopy of Tyrosine and Tyrosine-containing protein

    University essay from KTH/Tillämpad fysik

    Author : Hongjian Chen; [2023]
    Keywords : Tyrosine; Calmodulin; Autofluorescence; Transient-state monitoring; Electronic state transitions; Tyrosin; Calmodulin; Autofluorescens; Transient-tillståndsövervakning; Elektroniska tillståndsövergångar;

    Abstract : The aromatic amino acids tryptophan, tyrosine, and phenylalanine have been extensively used for different label-free protein studies. These investigations extract information on protein conformations and interactions from the emitted fluorescence's intensity, wavelength, and/or polarization. READ MORE

  2. 2. Multiple-Emitter Super-resolution Imaging using the Alternating Descent Conditional Gradient Method

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Beräkningsbiologi och biologisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation; Lunds universitet/Institutionen för astronomi och teoretisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation

    Author : Dolev Illouz; [2023]
    Keywords : super-resolution; alternating descent conditional gradient method; ADCG; multiple-emitter localization; nanoscale imaging; single molecule tracking; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : This thesis examines the state-of-the-art 2D super-resolution technique alternating descent conditional gradient (ADCG) method's ability to accurately localize fluorophores in diffraction-limited single molecule images (SMI) and analyze the impact of pre-processing and post-processing modules on ADCG's fluorophore localization. A synthetic dataset obtained from the 2013 Grand Challenge localization microscopy and a temporally linked dataset obtained from an unpublished set of Optical DNA mapping experiments performed by Jonathan Jeffet at the NanoBioPhotonix Lab at Tel-Aviv University were initially segmented to extract their noise parameters. 3. 3. Saturated planar laser-induced fluorescence using sinusoidal intensity modulation

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Förbränningsfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Klara Lozani Gerdhem; [2023]
    Keywords : fluorescence; fluorophore; LIF; PLIF; saturated LIF; saturated PLIF; structured light; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : Saturated laser-induced fluorescence (saturated LIF) has been the topic of some research, however mainly regarding laser diagnostic methods conducted on flames. A few papers have discussed saturated LIF with the purpose of producing saturation curves of different fluorescent elements. READ MORE

  4. 4. Method for separation of mono-, and di-saccharides with microchip capillary electrophoresis

    University essay from KTH/Tillämpad fysikalisk kemi

    Author : Filip Friberg; [2023]
    Keywords : capillary electrophoresis; saccharide; cell culture; biopharmaceutical; microchip; kapillärelektrofores; sackarid; cellodlingsmedium; bioläkemedel; mikrochip;

    Abstract : Biologiska läkemedel är läkemedel som tillverkas från cellodling och är en växande industri. Varje år tillverkas nya biologiska läkemedel, vilket ställer högre krav på metoder för att kunna mäta och kontrollera processparametrar av tillverkningen. READ MORE

  5. 5. Single-molecule Imaging of the Cell Division Ring in Escherichia coli Using the ALFA-tag

    University essay from KTH/Tillämpad fysik

    Author : Emma Westlund; [2023]
    Keywords : ALFA-tag; Escherichia coli; Divisome protein FtsZ; mEos3.2; Nanobodies; Nanotags; PALM; Plasmid transformation; sfGFP; Single-molecule Imaging; ALFA-tag; Escherichia coli; Divisomprotein FtsZ; mEos3.2; Nanokroppar; Nanotaggar; PALM; Plasmidtransformation; sfGFP; Enmolekyl-mikroskopi;

    Abstract : The use of super-resolution (SR) microscopy is an important tool for understanding the inside mechanisms of bacterial cells. However, for SR imaging, the labelling of the proteins of interest is a great challenge as flourescent proteins (FPs) are often too big to be directly fused to the target protein and traditional immunolabelling with antibodies creates too long separation between the fluorophore and the target protein.
