  1. 6. Multi-Scale Topology Optimization of Lattice Structures Using Machine Learning

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Tillämpad mekanik

    Author : Julia Ibstedt; [2023]
    Keywords : Topology optimization; Multi-scale topology optimization; Machine learning; Gaussian process; Homogenization; Inverse homogenization; Anisotropic materials; Symmetry groups; Material property space; Topologioptimering; Flerskalig topologioptimering; Maskininlärning; Gaussian process; Homogenisering; Anisotropa material; Symmetrigrupper; Materialegenskapsrymd;

    Abstract : This thesis explores using multi-scale topology optimization (TO) by utilizing inverse homogenization to automate the adjustment of each unit-cell's geometry and placement in a lattice structure within a pressure vessel (the design domain) to achieve desired structural properties. The aim is to find the optimal material distribution within the design domain as well as desired material properties at each discretized element and use machine learning (ML) to map microstructures with corresponding prescribed effective properties. 2. 7. Optimization of composite materials in 2D

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Tillämpad mekanik

    Author : Åke Graf Brolund; Edvin Beccau; [2023]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Composites are a useful type of material due to their ability to be created for specific applications. On the other hand composites often leads to a challenging optimization problem. READ MORE

  3. 8. Beyond Traditional Tomography: X-ray Multi-projection Imaging for Additive Manufacturing

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Synkrotronljusfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Maria Esther Vilar Alvarez; [2023]
    Keywords : X-ray tomography; X-ray multiprojection-imaging; deep learning; additive manufacturing; synchrotron radiation; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : The main aim of this bachelor thesis is to push the limits of 3D X-ray imaging by studying the minimum number of projections required to retrieve high-quality reconstructions for additive manufacturing processes. This project first focuses on understanding how X-ray tomography works, by reconstructing additive manufacturing data already obtained (from PSI, TOMCAT beamline) using two standard reconstruction algorithms, GRIDREC and SIRT. 4. 9. A study of the triboelectricity of 2D materials: MoS2, WS2 and MoO3 : Analyzing measurements from a triboelectric nanogenerator

    University essay from Mittuniversitetet/Institutionen för naturvetenskap

    Author : Simon Kilman; [2022]
    Keywords : 2D-material; MoS2; WS2; MoO3; triboelektrisk nanogenerator; TENG; triboelektrisk effekt; triboelektrisk serie; kontaktelektrifiering.;

    Abstract : Detta projekts mål har varit att undersöka tre olika 2D-materials triboelektriska egenskaper och därmed placera dem i en triboelektrisk serie. Detta utfördes genom att använda en triboelektrisk nanogenerator (TENG) och mäta den resulterande spänningen. Tio stycken motmaterial applicerades mot varje 2D-material på nanogeneratorn. READ MORE

  5. 10. Enhancing GPR Measurements using Real Time Kinematics and LiDAR Mapping

    University essay from Umeå universitet/Institutionen för fysik

    Author : Christoffer Elebro; [2022]
    Keywords : GPS; GNSS; RTK; Lidar; 3D-mapping;

    Abstract : A Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) is a non-invasive measurement tool to locate objects in the subsurface. The GPR transmits electromagnetic waves into the ground and records the waves reflected from surface interfaces of different materials. READ MORE
