  1. 11. Chromite in serpentine mud volcanoes of the Mariana forearc: Implications for abiotic organic reactions

    University essay from Institutionen för geologiska vetenskaper

    Author : Iga Sagatowska; [2010]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The Mariana convergent plate margin is a non- accretionary subduction system in the western Pacific Ocean. Subduction of the Pacific plate causes dissolution of carbonate minerals releasing inorganic carbon, and causes dehydration of hydrous minerals in the subducted slab, generating hydrous fluids. 2. 12. Årstidsdynamik för kvicksilver i ett sövattensediment

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Forest Ecology and Management

    Author : Anna Karlsson; [2008]
    Keywords : kvicksilver; metylering; sediment; sjöar;

    Abstract : The limit for mercury in fish, set by health authorities, is exceeded in about half of the lakes in Sweden. Methyl mercury (MeHg) is the most toxic form of mercury and accumulates in fish. READ MORE

  3. 13. Frigörelse av kvicksilver och metylkvicksilver till bäckvatten under olika perioder efter skogsavverkning

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Forest Ecology and Management

    Author : Mattias Björkman Westin; [2008]
    Keywords : mercury; methyl mercury; forestry; clear cutting; iron; sulpher;

    Abstract : High levels of Hg in fish in Swedish lakes have been a problem along time in Sweden. The major concern is production and accumulation of the most toxic form of mercury; methyl mercury (MeHg). READ MORE

  4. 14. Löslighet och metylering av kvicksilver i en förorenad sjö (Ala-Lombolo) i Kiruna kommun

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Forest Ecology and Management

    Author : Björn Erhagen; [2007]
    Keywords : kvicksilver; metylering; svavel; organisk materia; sulfater; riskbedömning; sediment;

    Abstract : Transformation of inorganic mercury (Hg) to methyl mercury (MeHg) is a biotic process that is proposed to be conducted primarily by sulphate reducing bacteria (SRB). The formation of MeHg is of great interest because it is the mercury species that biomagnifies to the greatest extent in the aquatic food webs; about 90 % of all Hg in fish is MeHg. READ MORE

  5. 15. Limnological responses to late Holocene permafrost dynamics at the Stordalen mire, Abisko, northern Sweden

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Author : Anders Nilsson; [2006]
    Keywords : geography; geology; limnological responses; late Holocene; permafrost dynamics; Stordalen mire; Abisko; northern Sweden; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : A composite sediment sequence, consisting of a Russian core and an overlapping freeze core, comprising the uppermost meter of the sediment record, was retrieved from Lake Inre Abborrtjärn in the Torneträsk valley in Lappland, northern Sweden. The core was subsampled for analysis of organic matter content, inorganic carbon content and analysis of the sediment composition using a technique known as structural analysis, resulting in a high-resolution data set spanning the last 2000 years.
