  1. 1. A Structural Analysis of the Fracture Sets in Gothenburg, Sweden: A Remote Sensing and Manual Lineament Approach

    University essay from Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Author : Jacek Krysik; [2023-05-22]
    Keywords : Remote sensing; Manual lineament analysis; Fractal analysis; Structural; Regional geology; LiDAR; Gothenburg region;

    Abstract : The fracture-valley landscape within the Gothenburg region was analysed based on LiDAR-derived hillshade images as well as several sources of orthomosaics. Using a manual lineament interpretation approach and complimented with an objective fractal analysis software (FROST), the objective of the study was to characterise the regional fracture sets as well as attempt to link the sets to the complex regional geological history. 2. 2. Geological characterisation of geophysical lineaments as part of the expanded site descriptive model around the planned repository site for high-level nuclear waste, Forsmark, Sweden

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Author : Aron Bakker; [2021]
    Keywords : Forsmark; deformation zones; Svecokarelian; Sveconorwegian; ductile-brittle transition; brittle deformation; mylonite; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : The Swedish Nuclear Fuel and Waste Management Co. (SKB) started a project in 2020 near Forsmark, Sweden with the aim to expand the deformation zone model to encompass the entire catchment area around the planned repository for spent nuclear fuel. READ MORE

  3. 3. Saltwater Intrusion in Fractured Crystalline Bedrock Aquifer. - A Case Study on Koster Islands, SW Sweden

    University essay from Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Author : Sibhat Afewerki; [2019-10-30]
    Keywords : saltwater intrusion; fractured bedrock aquifers; DRASTIC; vulnerability mapping; Koster Islands; slatvattenintrång; Akvifer i uppsprucken berggrund; sårbarhetskartläggning; Kosteröarna;

    Abstract : Saltwater intrusion (SWI) is one of the significant threats in many coastal areas, mainly driven by anthropogenic hazards (over-pumping) and climate change (sea level rise). So far, there have been extensive research and techniques to understand and minimize SWI. READ MORE

  4. 4. Groundwater resources in coastal hard rock terrains : Geostatistical and GIS approach

    University essay from KTH/Mark- och vattenteknik

    Author : S. Emad Dehkordi; [2009]
    Keywords : Fractured hard rock; Multivariate statistics; GIS; Groundwater potential; Lineament; Salinity;

    Abstract : Stockholm archipelago is a combination of coastal and young glaciated conditions on hard rock geology with almost no primary porosity and very limited secondary porosity. Therefore the aquifer is both of limited capacity and exposed to salinity problem. In this context importance of fractures and soil cover is magnified. READ MORE

  5. 5. Lineament study in the Björkö area satellite radar and airbome VLF data- possible tools for groundwater prospecting

    University essay from KTH/Geodesi och satellitpositionering

    Author : Clement Takyi; [2008]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : This thesis work mainly concerns lineament study, that is the extraction and analysis of lineaments from satellite radar and airborne VLF data using GIS to explore potential aquifers or groundwater locations associated in the study area (Björkö) situated west of Stockholm in the lake Mälaren. The other objective focuses on improving the general knowledge of hydrology, more importantly techniques and methods in lineament analysis. READ MORE
