  1. 1. Error propagation in nuclear models

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Matematisk fysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Artis Mucenieks; [2023]
    Keywords : Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : In this thesis we perform error analysis of a nuclear model based on density-functional theory developed in Lund. The Lund model allows us to perform calculations of nuclear spectra more efficiently by constructing a simple effective Hamiltonian reproducing the quadrupole deformation and pairing interaction strength parameters of a spherical Hartree-Fock reference functional. 2. 2. The Bloch-Messiah theorem and its application to overlaps

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Matematisk fysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Frieder Selisko; [2023]
    Keywords : Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : The Bogoliubov transformation is the starting point for the Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov method and thus for many theoretical approaches that describe heavy nuclei. This transformation is based on two matrices, denoted by U and V, which are called Bogoliubov amplitudes. In this paper the properties of these matrices are investigated. READ MORE

  3. 3. Full Configuration Interaction Model for 1-D Quantum System

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Matematisk fysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Adam Asaad; [2022]
    Keywords : Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : The many-body problem is one of the most challenging problems in physics due to the complexity emerging from the interactions of many quantum particles. Since the advent of computers with increasing power, computational methods have been very successful in providing insight and precise solutions to this problem. READ MORE

  4. 4. Rare Weak Decays of the Omega Baryon

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Kärnfysik

    Author : Cornelis Johannes Gerardus Mommers; [2022]
    Keywords : hadron; physics; nuclear; particle;

    Abstract : We study rare decays of the Omega baryon using SU(3) chiral perturbation theory, a successfuleffective field theory of quantum chromodynamics at low energies. At leading-order, we calculatethe branching fractions of the decay Ω− → Ξππ for all possible combinations of pions. READ MORE

  5. 5. “We are dealing here with a hydroelectric dam, we are not building a nuclear plant” : A case study of securitization processes in water cooperation contexts

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Statsvetenskapliga institutionen

    Author : Frida Müntzing; [2022]
    Keywords : Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam GERD ; Securitization theory; Water security; Human Security; Hydro hegemony; Water cooperation; Blue Nile; Ethiopia; Sudan; Egypt; Law and Political Science;

    Abstract : In 2011, Ethiopia began the construction of the “Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam” (GERD) in the Blue Nile and in 2020 the first filling took place which escalated tensions in the shared waters and provoked concerns from Egypt and Sudan. The aim of the thesis is to broaden the understanding of water sharing issues by conducting a case study of the GERD developments between 2011 and the beginning of 2022 with a focus on securitization processes.
