  1. 1. Multiple-Emitter Super-resolution Imaging using the Alternating Descent Conditional Gradient Method

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Beräkningsbiologi och biologisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation; Lunds universitet/Institutionen för astronomi och teoretisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation

    Author : Dolev Illouz; [2023]
    Keywords : super-resolution; alternating descent conditional gradient method; ADCG; multiple-emitter localization; nanoscale imaging; single molecule tracking; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : This thesis examines the state-of-the-art 2D super-resolution technique alternating descent conditional gradient (ADCG) method's ability to accurately localize fluorophores in diffraction-limited single molecule images (SMI) and analyze the impact of pre-processing and post-processing modules on ADCG's fluorophore localization. A synthetic dataset obtained from the 2013 Grand Challenge localization microscopy and a temporally linked dataset obtained from an unpublished set of Optical DNA mapping experiments performed by Jonathan Jeffet at the NanoBioPhotonix Lab at Tel-Aviv University were initially segmented to extract their noise parameters. 2. 2. Establishing novel approaches for assessing safety of genome-editing-based therapeutics

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för biologisk grundutbildning

    Author : Noorul Shaheen Sheikh Farid; [2023]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Genome editing based medicines are a new therapeutic modality being developed. They show great promise for a spectrum of genetic diseases lacking conventional treatment strategies. A major obstacle that prevents such therapies to reach the clinic is their safety. READ MORE

  3. 3. Derivation of an Algorithm for the Analysis of Images of DNA molecules prepared with Denaturation Mapping

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fasta tillståndets fysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Maximilian Binzler; [2019]
    Keywords : Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : Denaturation mapping is a powerful and fast method for optically analyzing DNA molecules.It can be used to characterize DNA molecules on a scale of a few hundred base pairs which is sufficient for applications. READ MORE

  4. 4. Gene-ID Using Simultaneous DNA Barcoding and Enzymatic Labeling

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för astronomi och teoretisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation

    Author : Henrik Nordanger; [2017]
    Keywords : Antibiotic resistance; Enzymatic labeling; Plasmids; Optical DNA mapping; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : Antibiotic resistance is an ever growing problem, and is considered one of the major challenges of modern medicine. In order to avoid further development and spread of multiresistance among bacteria, the use of antibiotics should be more restrictive, and more tailored to individual cases of infection. READ MORE

  5. 5. Methods for Finding Structural Variations in DNA Barcodes

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation

    Author : Johannes Isaksson; [2016]
    Keywords : DNA; barcodes; computational; biology; genome; antibiotics; plasmids; structural; variations; genes; mutation; sequencing; resistance; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : Rapid spread of antibiotic resistance is currently one of the greatest threats to human health according to the World Health Organization [1] [2]. It is directly connected to horizontal gene transfer of plasmids, wherein resistance-coding genes often appear as structural variations (SVs). READ MORE
