  2. 2. Relation between hydrogen production and photosynthesis in the green algae Chlamydomonas reinhardtii

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för biologisk grundutbildning

    Author : Alex Basu; [2015]
    Keywords : Bioenergy; biotechnology; solar fuels; hydrogen production;

    Abstract : The modernized world is over-consuming low-cost energy sources that strongly contributes to pollution and environmental stress. As a consequence, the interest for environmentally friendly alternatives has increased immensely. READ MORE

  3. 3. Influence of the light harvesting proteins Lhbc3 and Lhbc5 on photosynthesis of plants lacking Lhbc1 and Lhbc2.

    University essay from Umeå universitet/Institutionen för fysiologisk botanik; Umeå universitet/Umeå Plant Science Centre (UPSC)

    Author : Hanhan Xia; [2013]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Photosynthesis is one of the most important biological processes on earth, producing carbohydrates and oxygen. The light is captured with the aid of light harvesting proteins. Light harvesting complex proteins in PSII are important both in light absorption and dynamic regulation. READ MORE

  4. 4. Potassium channel AtTPK5 : An essential or redundant regulator of photosynthesis in Arabidopsis?

    University essay from Institutionen för fysik, kemi och biologi

    Author : Behrad Shiki Baluch; [2011]
    Keywords : Chloroplast; thylakoid; TPK; PCR; ETR; O2-evolution; PAR; PSII.;

    Abstract : It has previously been stated that K+-ions in a plant cell have a counter-balancing role in which the efflux of K+-ions from the thylakoid lumen charge-balance the light-induced proton pumping that is known to occur across the thylakoid membrane, and this in turn stabilizes photosynthetic activity. In the present study, two different types of plants of the same ecotype (Col-0) of Arabidopsis thaliana have been studied: a wild-type and a T-DNA exon-mutant (tpk5-e) that has lost the expression of the protein known as Tandem-pore K+- channel (AtTPK5). 5. 5. Analysis of salt tolerance in three widely used accessions of Arabidopsis thaliana: a photosynthetic approach

    University essay from Molekylär genetik

    Author : Pavan Tangirala; [2011]
    Keywords : Salt tolerance; photosynthetic activity; chlorophyll fluorescence; Arabidopsis ecotypes;

    Abstract : Salt stress is one of the major problems in the present world’s agriculture. Plants encounter drought stress even in the availability of water because of osmotic imbalance in the cell due to excess salts. Plants avoid water uptake, which in turn decreases the photosynthetic activity. READ MORE
