  1. 6. Trigger-Level Multiple Electron Event Classification with LDMX using Artificial Neural Networks

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Jacob Lindahl; [2023]
    Keywords : LDMX; ANN; CNN; GNN; RNN; DM; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : Artificial neural networks is a powerful tool for classifying and identifying patterns in large amounts of data. One of the possible tasks of these networks is classification of data into categories. READ MORE

  2. 7. Development of an event generator for antihyperon-hyperon pair production in antiproton-proton collisions

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Kärnfysik

    Author : Vitor Jose Shen; [2022]
    Keywords : MC event generator; Antihyperon-hyperon pair; Antiproton-proton collisions; PANDA; ROOT; 4-vector kinematics; Angular distribution;

    Abstract : The goal of this project was to develop a lightweight Monte-Carlo (MC) event generator for hyperon pair production in antiproton-proton collisions, and demonstrate it in one of the hyperon decay reaction channels, which is collisions of proton and antiproton to lambda hyperon and anti-lambda hyperon, and they decay to antiproton-positive pion pair, and proton-negative pion pair. The prototype of this external MC event generator we presented here is based on the software framework of ROOT. READ MORE

  3. 8. Spin correlations in top quark pair production at the Large Hadron Collider

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation

    Author : Simon Ahlstedt; [2022]
    Keywords : Top quarks; Top quark pair production; LHC; Spin correlations; MadGraph5_aMC@NLO; Dilepton decay channel; Leading order; Interference effects; Event generation.; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : In this work we investigate the spin correlation effect of the interference between signal and irreducible background events present in top quark pair production at the LHC at LO in the dilepton channel. To simulate the high energy proton-proton collisions of the LHC, MadGraph5_aMC@NLO framework is used as an event generator. READ MORE

  4. 9. Hydrogen Fuel Cell Lifetime Simulation in Marine Applications

    University essay from KTH/Kraft- och värmeteknologi

    Author : Yifeng Zhong; [2022]
    Keywords : maritime transportation; FEMFC; lifetime simulation; degradation mechanism; empirical relationship; semi-empirical approach; sjötransport; PEM-bränsleceller; livslängdssimulering; nedbrytningsmekanism; empiriskt samband; semi-empiriskt tillvägagångssätt;

    Abstract : Maritime transportation emits about 3% of global greenhouse gas, International Maritime Organization (IMO) aims to reduce shipping’s emissions by 50% with respect to 2008 levels. Proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) are considered among the most promising clean technologies for decarbonizing the maritime sector. READ MORE

  5. 10. Study of the doubly charged Higgs boson single production using lepton parton distribution functions with the ATLAS detector

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Daniel Magdalinski; [2022]
    Keywords : doubly charged Higgs boson; ATLAS; lepton parton distribution function; same-sign; dilepton; beyond standard model; LHC; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : Searches for the doubly charged Higgs(H±±) aim to find evidence for models that could explain the origin of neutrino masses. Earlier searches at the LHC have used different production processes for the H±±, with the recent development of lepton parton distribution functions new leptonic production processes are able to be studied.
