  1. 11. WC grain size distribution during sintering of WC-Co cemented carbides

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Materialteknik

    Author : Oscar Bjäreborn; [2016]
    Keywords : hardmetal; cemented carbides; WC; EBSD; grain size distribution; microstructure; coercivity; hardness; toughness; sintering; growth inhibition; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : The grain growth of WC in WC-7%Co cemented carbides with Cr-addition was investigated for cemented carbides synthesized from four different raw materials varying in grain size. Cr additions were 4%of the Co binder phase. To investigate the effect of Cr on grain growth two of the raw materials were also synthesized without Cr-additions. READ MORE

  2. 12. Tool wear in turning titanium alloys

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för kemi - Ångström

    Author : Magnus Johansson; [2015]
    Keywords : Titanium machining; Tool wear; Crater wear; Turning; WC Co cutting tool;

    Abstract : In this master thesis, performed at AB Sandvik Coromant, wear and tool life of uncoated WC/Co grades have been investigated during longitudinal turning of the titanium alloy Ti-6Al-4V. Due to titanium’s poor thermal conductivity and high chemical reactivity towards most metals, high temperature is achieved between the tool and workpiece material, resulting in high tool wear rates. 3. 13. Residual stress in CVD coatings : Evaluation of XRD and TEM methods for micro and macrostress determination

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Tillämpad materialvetenskap

    Author : Dennis Karlsson; [2015]
    Keywords : residual stress; transmission electron microscopy; TEM; nanobeam diffraction; x-ray diffraction; XRD; CVD; TiCN; Al2O3; ZrCN; blasting;

    Abstract : Cutting tools are subject to extreme environment during processing, with hightemperatures and pressures. CVD coatings are used to increase lifetime andperformance of the WC/Co composite. Residual stresses in the coatings areinteresting as they may be destructive or constructive for the material duringoperation. READ MORE

  4. 14. Effect of tungsten carbides properties of overlay welded WC/NiSiB composite coatings

    University essay from KTH/Industriell produktion

    Author : Richard Seger; [2014]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : To get a long life of a product which is subjected to heavy mechanical wear, materials with particularly good properties such as high hardness and the ability to resist high temperature is required. Tungsten carbide is a material which has these properties, but to manufacture large products for mining industry or agriculture entirely of this material is neither practical nor quite beneficial when the disadvantages of the materials such as brittleness, high weight and high price will have a major affect. 5. 15. Thermal Stability of cubic and nanocrystalline arcevaporated TiCrAlN coatings

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Nanostrukturerade material; Linköpings universitet/Tekniska högskolan

    Author : Hassan Saleem; [2014]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : (TixCryAlz)N coatings were deposited on WC-Co substrate using cathodic arc evaporation technique to investigate phase transformation, thermal stability, and high temperature mechanical properties. Two compositions Ti0.34Cr0.33Al0. READ MORE
