  1. 26. Adapting to Climate Change on the Coasts of Ireland: Lessons from California: How the Pacific can enlighten the Atlantic?

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Internationella miljöinstitutet

    Author : Cillian Mcmahon; [2015]
    Keywords : Climate Change; Adaptation; Coastal Areas; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : Coastal areas throughout the world are vulnerable to the effects of a changing climate. The warming of the world’s oceans, and the consequent rise in sea levels, will result in more severe coastal flooding, in accelerated erosion, and in the increased occurrence of extreme weather events. 2. 27. Coastal evolution at Macaneta spit, Mozambique - an analysis of longshore and cross-shore processes

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära

    Author : Christofer Karlsson; Johan Liljedahl; [2015]
    Keywords : Macaneta spit; Maputo; Mozambique; overwash; erosion; breaching; cross-shore modeling; longshore modeling; EBED; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Macaneta spit is located about 30km north of Maputo, Mozambique, with the Indian Ocean on the east side and Incomáti River on the west side of the spit, composing an interesting and vulnerable area from a hydrodynamic point of view. Few studies regarding coastal processes are done in the area and changes of the morphology could result in breaching of the spit and thereby affect both accessibility to the spit and the water supply for irrigation in the region. 3. 28. Sediment transport and coastal evolution at Thuan An Inlet, Vietnam

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära

    Author : Eva-Lena Eriksson; Madeleine Hjertstrand Persson; [2014]
    Keywords : Thuan An; Hoa Duan; Tam Giang-Cau Hai lagoon system; lagoon; inlet; groin; longshore sediment transport; Thua Thien-Hue province; GENESIS; Huong River; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : The Tam Giang-Cau Hai lagoon is located outside of Hue in central Vietnam. Southeast of Thuan An inlet, one of the two inlets of the lagoon, a groin was constructed in 2008 as a measure to reduce the sediment transport to prevent the inlet from closing. READ MORE

  4. 29. Fish oil in Icelandic road constructions. : A case study of bituminous binder mixtures modified with bio-oil.

    University essay from KTH/Väg- och banteknik

    Author : Arnar Ágústsson; [2014]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : In this thesis an extensive background study on the use of bio-oil modified binder, used in surface dressings in Iceland, was carried out. Surface dressings, or chip seals, are paved by first spraying out binder and then distributing aggregates over the surface before compaction. READ MORE

  5. 30. Coastal erosion on Vestpynten, Svalbard; Engineering measures for shore protection.

    University essay from KTH/Mark- och vattenteknik

    Author : Antonia-Maria Linzbach; [2014]
    Keywords : Arctic; Coastal erosion; engineering coast protection; shore protection; ;

    Abstract : This thesis describes the processing of 3D Laser measurements from Vestpynten, Svalbard to find out the erosion pattern at the site as a basis for the design of an appropriated shore protection suggestion and also to evaluate the applicability of 3D laser measurement systems in Arctic environments. 3D laser measurements would be interesting for the analysis of areas with limited  accessibility, since 3D laser measurement allows very precise recordings of the landscape/ surfaces without the need of accessing the investigation area.
