    Abstract : This paper investigates how family control affects a firm's propensity to undertake acquisitions and divestitures as well as the performance consequences of these transactions. Making use of manually collected data on 242 Swedish listed companies during the period 2003-2012, we do not find evidence that family firms are less likely to engage in acquisitions than non-family firms.
