  1. 26. Statistical Analysis of Dark Counts in Superconducting Nanowire Single Photon Detectors

    University essay from KTH/Fysik

    Author : Anton Cakste; Martin Andrae; [2022]
    Keywords : Single-Photon Detector; SNSPD; Dark Counts; Quantum Random Number Generator; Afterpulsing;

    Abstract : In this paper we perform a statistical analysis of dark counts in superconducting nanowire single photon detectors (SNSPDs) with the end goal of creating a quantum random number generator (QRNG) using these dark counts. We confirm that dark counts are Poissonian for low bias currents and that no afterpulsing is present. READ MORE

  2. 27. Theory of Time-Dependent Transport and Levitons in Nanowires

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fasta tillståndets fysik

    Author : Jakob Westerberg; [2021]
    Keywords : leviton; Tkwant; tight-binding model; solid-state physics; time-dependent transport; scattering theory; quantum mechanics; computer simulation; nanowire; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : An interesting type of quasi-particles in solid-state materials are the so-called levitons. These are single- electron excitations above the Fermi-level that do not produce any hole states when carrying an integer multiple of the elementary charge. READ MORE

  3. 28. Aerotaxy-grown GaAs nanowires using Ga seed particles

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fasta tillståndets fysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Eric Ceccarelli; [2021]
    Keywords : Aerotaxy; GaAs nanowires; epitaxy; self-catalized growth; self-seeded growth; Ga seeded GaAs nanowires; Ga seeded GaP nanowires; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Aerotaxy offers an alternative method for the manufacturing of semiconductor nanowires. Instead of seeding growth on an expensive substrate, aerosol seed particles act as the catalyst for the Vapor–Liquid–Solid growth in a hot flow through reactor. READ MORE

  4. 29. Simulating the effect of structural imperfections on nanowire transport properties using kwant

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Matematisk fysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Alexandros Pallaris; [2021]
    Keywords : nanowire; conductance; imperfection; electron transport; quantum transport; tight-binding model; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Conductance was calculated for trapezoidal nanowires with different forms and strengths of imperfection using kwant, a quantum transport software package that uses a tight-binding model. In this thesis it is found that increasing magnitudes of different imperfections such as surface charge and roughness roughen conductance steps, introduce resonances, and lower conductance overall with different character of these effects for different types of imperfections. 5. 30. Optical characterisation of AAO/CsPbBr3 perovskite nanocomposites

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Synkrotronljusfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Klára Nováková; [2021]
    Keywords : perovskite; scintillator; optoelectronics; semiconductor; X-ray detection; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : Direct bandgap metal lead halide perovskites offer promising optoelectronic properties desirable in a wide range of applications including photodetection. However, the incomplete and poor understanding of the photophysical processes taking place in these materials, along with their poor stability, is the bottleneck for optimisation and further development of metal halide perovskite devices.
