  1. 1. Flow of charged particles in Pb-Pb and pp collisions at the LHC

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysik

    Author : Mohamed Berkat; [2024]
    Keywords : Quark Gluon Plasma; QGP; Quantum Chromodynamic; QCD; flow coefficients; Event Plane; Cumulants; ALICE; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates the transition of Quantum Chromodynamic (QCD) matter to a strongly interacting Quark Gluon Plasma (QGP), where quarks and gluons become deconfined. The expansion of this plasma exhibits characteristics of an ideal relativistic hydrodynamics system, suggesting a behavior similar to that of a perfect fluid. READ MORE

  2. 2. Studying Elliptic Flow in High Centrality Pb-Pb Collisions using Proton Collision Background Fitting

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysik

    Author : Philip Fredholm; [2023]
    Keywords : Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : In this report, the elliptic flow in high centrality Pb-Pb collisions is calculated using two particle correlations $v_2\{2\}$ but without any imposed separation in η with data taken from the ALICE experiment at CERN in 2015. Instead, measurements of the same correlations in proton-proton collisions is used as a background to account for non-flow effects and data is correlated between the time projection chamber and the forward multiplicity detectors in order to avoid intra-jet correlations. 3. 3. Application of Biomimetic Membrane Models in Expansion Microscopy

    University essay from KTH/Proteinvetenskap

    Author : Praghadhesh Thiagarajan; [2023]
    Keywords : Fluorescence microscopy; expansion microscopy; GPMV; inter-leaflet asymmetry; Fluorescensmikroskopi; expansionsmikroskopi; GPMV; asymmetri mellan lagren;

    Abstract : Plasmamembranet är en komplex struktur som består av biomolekyler som lipider, proteiner och glykaner. Membranets rena komplexitet begränsar vår förmåga att förstå den spatiotemporala dynamiken hos sådana komponenter och deras kollektiva biofysiska membranparametrar. READ MORE

  4. 4. Adaption of Inertial Confinement Fusion Resultsto Spherical Plasma Expansion at Comets

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för fysik och astronomi; Uppsala universitet/Institutet för rymdfysik, Uppsalaavdelningen

    Author : Viktor Sparrman; [2022]
    Keywords : Plasma; Inertial confinement fusion; comet; plasma expansion; Vlasov-Poisson; integral invariants; ergodicity;

    Abstract : Recent missions to solar system comets, such as ESA's Rosetta mission, raise interest for models and descriptions of their plasma environment. The interaction with various space phenomena such as stellar wind make the construction of an analytical description difficult. READ MORE

  5. 5. Including Finite Larmor Radius Effects on RF Heating of Fusion Plasmas using Weak-Form Contributions in COMSOL

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Jonas Christ; [2022]
    Keywords : plasma; fusion; RF; radio frequency; IBW; FW; ion Bernstein wave; fast wave; simulation; FEM; finite element method; Taylor; Taylor expansion; COMSOL; MATLAB; FLR; finite larmor radius; magnetized plasma; hot plasma; thermal plasma; plasma; fusion; radiofrekvens; simulation; FEM; finita elementmethod; Taylor; Taylorutveckling; COMSOL; MATLAB; FLR; ändliga Larmorradie-effekter;

    Abstract : In a fusion plasma, the ions have to be heated to reach fusion relevant temperatures. One possibility is to launch an electromagnetic wave in the radio frequency band into the plasma. This wave can resonate with the ions at their cyclotron frequency and hence, the method is called ion cyclotron resonance heating. READ MORE
