  1. 1. Machine Learning for Pulse Shape Analysis of Heavy Ions

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Tillämpad kärnfysik

    Author : Steven Hendrik Bijl; [2023]
    Keywords : Heavy Ions; Machine Learning;

    Abstract : Most of the Generation IV nuclear reactors designs are intended to operate with a fast neutron spectrum. This necessitates further investigation into nuclear fuel behaviour because fast neutrons yield a higher neutron multiplicity with fission fragments, significantly impacting the criticality assessment of these reactors. 2. 2. On the Possibility of Probing Early Matter Domination with Primordial Black Holes

    University essay from KTH/Fysik

    Author : Isak Stomberg; [2021]
    Keywords : Primordial Black Holes; Early Matter Domination; Master’s Thesis; Primordiala svarta hål; tidig materiadominans; mastersarbete;

    Abstract : Primordial black holes (PBHs) are expected to form in the very early universe, and therefore, we could use them to probe preBBN times. Astrophysical observations permit the placement of bounds on the abundance of PBHs. READ MORE

  3. 3. Lyman Continuum Radiation from Intermediate-Mass Black Holes : An Estimation of the Contribution of LyC Radiation from IMBHs in z~3 Galaxies

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Observationell astrofysik

    Author : Marika Ljungberg; [2020]
    Keywords : intermediate-mass black holes; cosmic reionization; high-redshift galaxies;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns the cosmic reionization of the intergalactic medium in the high redshift universe and, in particular, is a first approach to examine what role intermediate mass black holes (IMBHs) play in this cosmic age. Unexpectedly high values of hydrogen ionizing radiation, compared to current models, have been reported from galaxies at redshift ~3 (used as stand-ins for galaxies at the age of reionization), and thus these models need revision, potentially by adding effects of IMBH content in the galaxies. 4. 4. Correlated Structure-Property Investigation of Ultrathin InAs Nanowires

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fasta tillståndets fysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Linnea Suomenniemi; [2019]
    Keywords : Nanowires; InAs; epitaxy; MBE; Photo luminescence; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : III-V semiconductors are a profound part of the optoelectronics industry and new developments in alloy compositions and architectures are constantly emerging. Lowdimensional semiconductors, such as nanowires (NWs) have shown to have improved characteristics in certain areas such as enhanced light absorption and can furthermore be integrated on Silicon (Si) plattforms and are thus predicted to be a key component in future nanoelectronic and nanophotonic applications and devices. 5. 5. Study and Comparison of Spectrum Sensing Methods

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för informations- och kommunikationsteknik (ICT)

    Author : Huimei Lu; [2014]
    Keywords : cognitive radio; spectrum sensing; PSE; MTSE; FBSE;

    Abstract : Efficient utilization of frequency bands has attracted more and more attention. Most of the licensed spectrum nowadays is under-utilized and some unlicensed services are allowed to use the available spectrum without causing harmful interference to the primary users. Therefore, unlicensed users should be able to detect spectrum holes reliably. READ MORE
