  1. 21. Developement of a portable β-‐ spectrometer for in situ measurements of Sr-‐90 and Y-‐90 using a plastic scintillator and a silicon photomultipler (SiPM).

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Medicinsk strålningsfysik, Lund; Lunds universitet/Sjukhusfysikerutbildningen

    Author : Daniel Krona; [2015]
    Keywords : Medicine and Health Sciences;

    Abstract : In the event of a nuclear weapon detonation or a power plant accident radionuclides will deposit on the ground. It is then important to identify and quantify the radionuclides to obtain information necessary for radiation protection efforts like relocation and decontamination. READ MORE

  2. 22. Breathing adapted radiotherapy of breast cancer: Investigation of two different gating techniques and visual guidance, using optical surface scanning and pressure monitoring

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Sjukhusfysikerutbildningen; Lunds universitet/Medicinsk strålningsfysik, Lund

    Author : Lovisa Bergh; [2014]
    Keywords : Medicine and Health Sciences;

    Abstract : Background and purpose: Post-operative adjuvant radiotherapy of left-sided breast cancer patients is associated with cardiac and pulmonary complication. By utilizing different respiratory gating techniques the absorbed dose to the heart and lung can decrease. READ MORE

  3. 23. Evaluation of soft-tissue match methods for utilization in CBCT guided adaptive radiotherapy of lung cancer patients – clinical benefits, limitations and margin determination

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Medicinsk strålningsfysik, Lund; Lunds universitet/Sjukhusfysikerutbildningen

    Author : Fatma Rahma; [2014]
    Keywords : Medicine and Health Sciences;

    Abstract : Purpose: The aim of this study is to a) study the benefits and limitations with soft-tissue match for lung cancer patients, b) evaluate five different soft-tissue match methods, c) compare soft-tissue with bony match, d) find the stable surrogates to match on for obscured malignant lymph nodes, e) calculate CTV to PTV and OAR margins and volume of PTV for the corresponding margins, and d) study the anatomical changes associated with radiotherapy for lung cancer. Material and methods: 23 lung cancer patients (16 NSCLC, 7 SCLC) treated with radiotherapy, with 135 weekly CBCT set-up images were retrospectively matched to the planning CTs by five different match methods using the registration software Offline Review, version 10. 4. 24. Performance Assessment of Cerenkov Emission Imaging

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Sjukhusfysikerutbildningen; Lunds universitet/Medicinsk strålningsfysik, Lund

    Author : Emma Mellhammar; [2013]
    Keywords : Medicine and Health Sciences;

    Abstract : Laddade partiklar med hög energi kan ibland färdas snabbare än ljusets hastighet i det medium det för stunden befinner sig i. När detta sker, emitteras så kallat Cerenkovljus. Ljuset ligger inom det synliga spektret och kan alltså detekteras med vanlig kamerateknik. READ MORE

  5. 25. Estimation of the absorbed dose to patients treated with 177Lu-Dotatate with regards to the long-term retention and radionuclide impurity in the form of 177mLu

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Medicinsk strålningsfysik, Lund

    Author : Edita Mjekiqi; [2012]
    Keywords : Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : The use of radio-labeled somatostatin analogs, such as 177Lu-labelled DOTATATE, in PRRT, has based on the studies performed until now, shown to be promising for RNT disseminated neuroendocrine tumors [1]. In this regard, the aim of treatment is to assure the delivery of the highest possible absorbed dose to the tumor cells, while saving the normal tissues [1], meaning, to achieve a higher activity uptake in tumors with neuroendocrine origin while assuring the lowest possible radio-toxicity in normal organs [2].
