  1. 1. Modified train wheel wear calculation for fast calculation

    University essay from KTH/Spårfordon

    Author : Shaoyao Chen; [2021]
    Keywords : Precise contact point detection; Material Flexibility; Multiple contact points detection; Winkler theory; wear calculation; fast calculation; Exakt detektion av kontaktpunkter; materialflexibilitet; detektering av flera kontaktpunkter; Winkler-teori; förslitningsberäkning; snabb beräkning;

    Abstract : In this thesis, a modified wear calculation method is developed to calculate the train wheel wear, which can give less precise but faster results compared to the classic wear calculation method. This modified method is developed based on the classic wear calculation method developed by Jendel, which uses Hertz theory and Kalker’s simplified theory to calculate the contact variables and uses Achard theory to calculate the wear volume in an iterative manner. 2. 2. Simulation of air quality in underground train stations

    University essay from KTH/Maskinkonstruktion (Inst.)

    Author : Benjamin Söderberg; [2020]
    Keywords : PM10; aerosols; air pollution; particulate matter; emission factors; underground train station; PM10; luftkvalité; tåg; emissionsfaktorer; underjordiska tågstationer;

    Abstract : Particulate matter (PM) is a widespread air pollutant of microscopic particles that are suspended in the atmosphere. There is high concentration of PM in underground train stations and tunnels. The concentration of particulate matter (PM10) measured in Stockholm’s metro varies significantly between day and nighttime traffic of trains. READ MORE

  3. 3. Using Machine Learning as a Tool to Improve Train Wheel Overhaul Efficiency

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Medie- och Informationsteknik; Linköpings universitet/Tekniska högskolan

    Author : Oskar Gert; [2020]
    Keywords : Machine Learning; Industry 4.0; Hyperparameter tuning; XGBoost;

    Abstract : This thesis develops a method for using machine learning in a industrial pro-cess. The implementation of this machine learning model aimed to reduce costsand increase efficiency of train wheel overhaul in partnership with the AustrianFederal Railroads, Oebb. READ MORE

  4. 4. Machine vision for automation of earth-moving machines : Transfer learning experiments with YOLOv3

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för system- och rymdteknik

    Author : Carl Borngrund; [2019]
    Keywords : Machine learning; Machine vision; YOLOv3; You only look once; Computer vision; Real time object detection; Object detection;

    Abstract : This master thesis investigates the possibility to create a machine vision solution for the automation of earth-moving machines. This research was done as without some type of vision system it will not be possible to create a fully autonomous earth moving machine that can safely be used around humans or other machines. 5. 5. The Effect of Geometrical Contact Input to Wheel-Rail Contact Model

    University essay from KTH/Spårfordon

    Author : Michael Martin; [2018]
    Keywords : Wheel-rail contact; geometrical contact input; contact point search; contact patch; rail vehicle.;

    Abstract : Wheel-rail contact is an important aspect of railway, the forces transferred between the wheel and rail are the one that guide, brake, or accelerate the train, and that is why the understanding of the contact between wheel and rail is an interesting research topic. In this master thesis wheel-rail contact model named ANALYN is used to see the effect of the different geometrical input, like undeformed distance, relative longitudinal curvature, and relative lateral curvature calculation affect the contact patch estimation formed at the wheel-rail contact.
