Abstract: With the increasing quantity of soldier equipment in some cases weighing up to 50kg per soldier, a need to decrease the workload of the soldier emerges. There are several conventional solutions in the working, amongst them there are unmanned ground vehicles. But pack animals has for a long time played a major role in war, as modes of transportation, logistics and battle. This study will compare two UGV:s the LS3 and the TAROS V2 to the horse. The purpose is to compare old technology to new to a relatively new problem of high equipment weight.The method used to compare is a military technical system analysis, with the use of a multi-criteria and SWOT analysis. The result of the comparison is that the one of the UGV:s have better mobility and endurance that are up to date with today’s standards.
