At home in the urban growth
Abstract: Our project aims to investigate a housing typology that could meet the challenges of the urban sprawl in Bissau, and at the same time meet the needs of the residents. Through a study trip together with KTH studio Adrift: In Situ, we made on-site investigations and mapping in Bissau. Through drawing, model making and interviews we have developed a proposal with a two storied housing building. A changeable house, built with local materials and craft to meet the demands of an affordable construction that can manage a climate with both dry and rainy season and insects like termites. By building a more spatial efficient house we also gain a shared outdoor space, the garden.
