  1. 1. Symmetry in a free boundary problem

    University essay from KTH/Matematik (Avd.)

    Author : Seuri Basilio Kuosmanen; [2023]
    Keywords : Analysis of PDEs; Bernoulli-type boundary condition; free boundary problem; Laplacian operator; method of moving planes; symmetry; Analys av PDEs; Bernoulli-typ randvärde; frirandsproblem; Laplaceoperatorn; moving-plane metoden; symmetri;

    Abstract : We consider a variational formulation of a Bernoulli-type free boundary problem for the Laplacian operator with discontinuous boundary data. We show the existence of a weak solution to the problem. Moreover, we show that the solution has symmetry properties inherited by symmetric data. READ MORE

  2. 2. A Cut Finite Element Method for Partial Differential Equations on Evolving Surfaces

    University essay from KTH/Numerisk analys, NA

    Author : Johan Wärnegård; [2016]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with cut finite element methods (CutFEM) for solving partial differential equations (PDEs) on evolving interfaces. Such PDEs arise for example in the study of insoluble surfactants in multiphase flow. In CutFEM, the interface is embedded in a larger mesh which need not respect the geometry of the interface. 3. 3. GPU Computing for Efficient Sedimentary Basin Simulations

    University essay from KTH/Numerisk analys, NA

    Author : Geir Paulsen; [2014]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : This paper presents PDEs that describes sedimentation by a system of diffusion and transportation equations. These PDEs are implemented with a semi-implicit scheme and solved on a Graphics Processing Unit (GPU). READ MORE

  4. 4. Multiscale timestepping technique for ODEs and PDEs

    University essay from KTH/Numerisk analys, NA

    Author : Md Rajibul Islam; [2014]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The focus of this thesis is to find efficient ways of solving certain types of ODEs and PDEs. We have implemented a time upscaling method called Multiscale timestepping technique for this problems. READ MORE
