  1. 1. Characterization of Cu-mineralized carbonate veins in the Alta-Kvænangen Tectonic Window, Norway

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för samhällsbyggnad och naturresurser

    Author : Ellen Svens; [2024]
    Keywords : Greenstone belt; IOCG; Svecokarelian orogeny; Alta-Kvænangen Tectonic Window; Bergmark anticline;

    Abstract : The Alta-Kvænangen Tectonic Window is part of a regional greenstone belt that formed around 2.3 Ga – 2.0 Ga. The Bergmark anticline in the area has gone through greenschist to amphibolite facies metamorphism and hosts Cu, Co and Au mineralizations in hydrothermal veins, albite felsite and chemical traps. 2. 2. A Petrographic and Paragenetic Characterization of the Ertelien Ni-Cu Deposit (Norway)

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Author : Alena Niarezka; [2023]
    Keywords : Ertelien Ni-Cu deposit; ore geology; enrichment processes; nickel; cobalt; copper; optical microscopy; electron probe micro-analysis; critical metals; Ertelien Ni-Cu fyndighet; malmgeologi; anrikningsprocesser; nickel; kobolt; koppar; optisk mikroskopi; elektronsondsmikroanalys; kritiska metaller;

    Abstract : The escalating demand for metals driven by advancements in renewable energy technologies and hightech products has underscored the significance of understanding and characterizing ore deposits. This study focuses on the Ertelien Ni-Cu deposit in Norway, a region rich in nickel, cobalt, and copper resources—essential components for the transition to a sustainable energy future. READ MORE

  3. 3. Calphad data handling for generic precipitation modelling coupled with FEM

    University essay from KTH/Materialvetenskap

    Author : Hans-Henrik König; [2020]
    Keywords : CALPHAD; Precipitation; Pycalphad; CuCo; Integrated Computational Materials Engineering; CALPHAD; Utskiljningskinetik; Pycalphad; CuCo; Integrated Computational Materials Engineering;

    Abstract : To enable a generic modelling tool for precipitation kinetics in non-homogeneous components, an efficient data-handling is required to facilitate the integration of models on different length scales, and to decrease the computational time and the use of resources. In this work an automated method to generate, curate and transform Calphad- based thermodynamic and kinetic data to facilitate precipitation models integrated in FEM codes is developed and tested. 4. 4. Temporal and genetical constraints of the Cu-Co Vena-Dampetorp deposit, Bergslagen, Sweden

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Author : Dino Leopardi; [2020]
    Keywords : Bergslagen; Vena; Dampetorp; Cu-Co; sulphide melting; Bastnäs-type; cobaltite; arsenopyrite; titanite dating; sulphide mineralization; sulphide re-mobilisation.; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : The Bergslagen Province is known for containing major Zn-Pb-Ag and Zn-Pb-Cu-Ag sulphide mineralizations with associated iron-oxide skarns and a lot of research have focused on understanding them. However, Cu-Co deposits like the Vena-Dampetorp deposit have received less attention. READ MORE

  5. 5. First-arrival traveltime tomography of active-source data in the Kansanshi copper mine, northern Zambia

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Geofysik

    Author : Vessela Hobson; [2019]
    Keywords : refraction seismics; tomographic inversion; Zambian Copperbelt; copper;

    Abstract : Sedimentary rock-hosted deposits are a major source of copper and cobalt, with the Neoproterozoic central African Copperbelt being among the largest Cu-Co provinces in the world, accounting for around 15% of its copper resource. The deposits occur primarily in the carbonates and siliciclastic sediments overlying the basement, and formed during early diagenesis (around 820 Ma) and late diagenesis/metamorphism during the Pan-African Orogeny (580-520 Ma).
