  1. 1. Multi-Scale Topology Optimization of Lattice Structures Using Machine Learning

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Tillämpad mekanik

    Author : Julia Ibstedt; [2023]
    Keywords : Topology optimization; Multi-scale topology optimization; Machine learning; Gaussian process; Homogenization; Inverse homogenization; Anisotropic materials; Symmetry groups; Material property space; Topologioptimering; Flerskalig topologioptimering; Maskininlärning; Gaussian process; Homogenisering; Anisotropa material; Symmetrigrupper; Materialegenskapsrymd;

    Abstract : This thesis explores using multi-scale topology optimization (TO) by utilizing inverse homogenization to automate the adjustment of each unit-cell's geometry and placement in a lattice structure within a pressure vessel (the design domain) to achieve desired structural properties. The aim is to find the optimal material distribution within the design domain as well as desired material properties at each discretized element and use machine learning (ML) to map microstructures with corresponding prescribed effective properties. Abstract : Abstract The Afterimage of Violence: Frames and Responsiveness in the Three Films Also Known as Jihadi, Umdrehen and When Things Occur This thesis explores the intersection of aesthetics, ethics, and politics in relation to artistic strategies that confront political violence in artistic lens-based media. It aims to expand understandings of the possibilities and limitations of depicting violent real-world events and investigates how images of violence elicit responses from viewers. READ MORE

  3. 3. Concurrent generation of melody and lyrics by recurrent neural networks

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Pietro Bolcato; [2020]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : This work proposes a conditioned recurrent neural network architecture forconcurrent melody and lyrics generation. This is in contrast to methods thatfirst generate music and then lyrics, or vice versa. READ MORE

  4. 4. Heat recovery units in ventilation : Investigation of the heat recovery system for LB20 and LB21 in Building 99, University of Gävle

    University essay from Högskolan i Gävle/Avdelningen för bygg- energi- och miljöteknik

    Author : Marta Duarte; [2016]
    Keywords : Heating ventilation and air conditioning systems; heat recovery ventilation; run-around heat recovery; temperature ratio; sensible effectiveness;

    Abstract : Heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems are widely distributed over the world due to their capacity to adjust some local climate parameters, like temperature, relative humidity, cleanliness and distribution of the air until the desired levels verified in a hypothetical ideal climate. A review of buildings’ energy usage in developed countries shows that in the present this energy service is responsible for a portion of about 20% of the final energy usage on them, increasing up to 50% in hot-humid countries.
