  1. 6. Investigation of the combustion behavior in a fluidized reactor with oxygen carriers as bed material

    University essay from KTH/Energi- och ugnsteknik

    Author : Carl Kajnäs; [2016]
    Keywords : Bed materials; Fluidized bed combustion; Gaseous fuels; Oxygen carrier aided combustion; Oxygen carriers.;

    Abstract : The behavior of using oxygen carriers as bed material in a fluidized bed combustion was investigated in this work when methane, air and carbon monoxide, air are used as fluidizing gases. More specifically, conversion rate, unsteadiness and gas composition was investigated and it was found that the conversion rate of carbon monoxide and methane are higher when oxygen carriers are used as bed material compared to silica sand and that the highest conversion rate was for oxygen carriers with high oxygen transport capacity and high reactivity towards the gaseous fuel. 2. 7. A comparison between the two different combustion methods of Grate-firing and Fluidized bed, applied to a CHP-plant with MSW as fuel

    University essay from KTH/Energiteknik

    Author : Belkiz Hasan; Aidin Ahsant; [2015]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : In this study, the two most frequently used incineration systems, fluidized bed and grate-firing have been compared and analyzed. The performance of Mälarenergi’s combined heat and power (CHP) plant in Västerås, which consists of a fluidized bed incinerator, has been used as benchmark to elaborate the different calculations made in this study. 3. 8. Propensity of bed materials used in dual fluidized beds to retain ash-forming elements from biomass fuels

    University essay from

    Author : Björn Folkeson; [2014]
    Keywords : Fluidized bed; ash retention; gasification; combustion; bed material; Fluidiserad bädd; askämnen; förgasning; förbränning; bäddmaterial;

    Abstract : The main aim of this work was to investigate the propensity of bed materials to retain ash-forming elements from biomass under conditions relevant to dual fluidized bed gasification (DFBG). The investigation was carried out in a laboratory-scale bubbling fluidized bed reactor in which biomass was gasified with steam and the unconverted char was combusted in the temperature range 800–900 ° C.
