  1. 6. Evaluation of bank erosion and stability analysis along Rönne å at Ängelholm, Sweden

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära

    Author : Arnold Mate Kalimukwa; Abuzack Juma Mohamed; [2021]
    Keywords : HEC-RAS; BSTEM; cross section; erosion; sediment transport; deposition; bank stability; safety factor; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : This master thesis report presents the results of evaluation of bank erosion and stability analysis along Rönne å (river) at Ängelholm, located in south-west of Sweden within Scania. The main objectives cover building a hydrodynamic model, studying parameters that define sediment transport, modelling sediment transport within the river, mapping out erosive stretches and comparing to earlier observational study conducted by Norconsult in 2013, and finally conducting analysis of bank stability in most erosive stretches. 2. 7. Pile subjected to lateral load : Analytical hand calculation implemented by programming

    University essay from KTH/Byggteknik och design

    Author : Anders Nordlöf; Danny Holmboe; [2021]
    Keywords : Commission on Pile Research; report 101; pile foundation; transversely loaded piles; interaction pile soil; Mathcad; hand calculation method; Pålkommissionen; rapport 101; pålgrundläggning; transversalbelastade pålar; interaktion påle-jord; Mathcad; handberäkningsmetod;

    Abstract : The official recommendations in geotechnical engineering are according to Swedish practice to install inclined driven piles in order to resist external horizontal loads, which usually consist of windloads. These loads gets counteracted by utilizing the pile's axial load-bearing capacity, however when designing a foundation the use of inclined piles has proven to be problematic from a number of different perspectives. 3. 8. An Investigation of the breakage process of particles : With help of experimental results and discrete element methods

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för samhällsbyggnad och naturresurser

    Author : Ronni Bashiry; [2021]
    Keywords : Geotechnical Engineering; Breakage; Fracture; Spherical particles; DEM; Modelling; Numerical modelling;

    Abstract : In this study the breakage mechanics of brittle glass marbles was investigated. The pro-cess was to firstly investigate them in laboratory environment. The marbles or specimens was loaded until a crushing breakage occurred in a single point load test called Single Sphere Point load test in this document. READ MORE

  4. 9. Lateral resistance of short piles near slopes - a review of calculation methods

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Konstruktionsteknik; Lunds universitet/Institutionen för bygg- och miljöteknologi

    Author : Tomas Jönebratt; [2020]
    Keywords : Lateral load capacity; Horizontal load capacity; Piles near slopes; Approximate design methods; Soil; Geotechnical engineering; Friction soil; Wind load; Ultimate limit state; Noise screens; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Vid konstruktion av bullerskärmar så väljs vanligtvis pålning som grundläggningstyp. Det finns flera modeller som kan approximera ett krav på minsta pållängd beroende på olika typer jordförhållande och vindlast. READ MORE

  5. 10. Modelling of a compensated foundation in GeoSuite Settlement

    University essay from KTH/Jord- och bergmekanik

    Author : Linnea Hermansson; Rebecka Söderberg; [2020]
    Keywords : Compensated foundations; Load compensation; Lightweight material; Clay; Settlements; Creep; GeoSuite Settlement; Kompensationsgrundläggning; Lastkompensation; Lättfyllning; Lera; Sättningar; Krypning; GeoSuite Sättning;

    Abstract : The world today is constantly growing, creating a need of new roads and residential areas. New constructions lead to an increased load onto the soil, which can result in deformations when the soil layers underneath are compressed. To reduce the increased load on the soil, a compensated foundation can be used. READ MORE
