  1. 1. The effect of disorder on the axial anomaly in a lattice model in 1 + 1 dimensions

    University essay from KTH/Fysik

    Author : Agnes Wattrang; [2023]
    Keywords : Axial anomaly; tight-binding model; semiclassical physics; correlated disorder.; Axial kiral anomali; tätbindningsmodell; semiklassisk fysik; korrelerad oordning;

    Abstract : This work investigates the effect of a disorder potential, that represents impurities/dislocations in the lattice, on the time-dependent signature of the axial anomaly in a one-band tight-binding model in one spatial dimension. The tight-binding model is solved numerically and the simulation results are compared with a semiclassical expression for the time-dependent axial density, n5(t), due to Nielsen and Ninomiya [1]. 2. 2. Properties of III-V/Si heterojunction fabricated by HVPE

    University essay from KTH/Tillämpad fysik

    Author : Prakhar Bhargava; [2020]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Silicon is a promising material and is used for a wide range of applications in the electronics industry because of the high quality surface passivation given by the native oxide layer SiO2e. However, Si is not an ideal candidate for optoelectronic applications due to its indirect bandgap of 1. READ MORE

  3. 3. Mechanical properties of SiC nanowires with polytypes

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fasta tillståndets fysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Anders Vesti; [2019]
    Keywords : atomistic modeling; nanowires; molecular dynamics; simulation; SiC; silicon carbide; fracture behavior; nanomechanics; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : In this report, we model the mechanical properties and fracture behavior of SiC nanowires with different polytypes using Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulations. The mechanical properties investigated are the Young’s modulus, the maximum tensile stress and the fracture strain. The three polytype tested are SiC (3C), (2H) and (4H). READ MORE

  4. 4. Interfaces in complex InAs-GaSb heterostructured nanowires - A transmission electron microscopy study

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fasta tillståndets fysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Louise Uhrgård Gren; [2017]
    Keywords : transmission electron microscope; TEM; aberration corrected S TEM; nanowires; core-shell nanowires; InAs-GaSb; advanced characterization; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : In this project epitaxially grown InAs-GaSb complex heterostructured nanowires have been characterized by means of aberration corrected TEM techniques and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). The InAs-GaSb material is of interest due to its high charge carrier mobility, which has possible applications in electronic devices such as FETs. READ MORE

  5. 5. Non-abelian braiding in abelian lattice models from lattice dislocations

    University essay from Institutionen för ingenjörsvetenskap och fysik

    Author : Mattias Flygare; [2014]
    Keywords : Topological order; Topological degeneracy; Ground state degeneracy; Quantum computer; Fault-tolerant quantum computation; Lattice model; Lattice dislocations; Toric code; Non-abelian anyons; Braiding;

    Abstract : Topological order is a new field of research involving exotic physics. Among other things it has been suggested as a means for realising fault-tolerant quantum computation. Topological degeneracy, i.e. READ MORE
