  1. 1. Robust Aircraft Positioning using Signals of Opportunity with Direction of Arrival

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Reglerteknik

    Author : Erik Axelsson; Sebastian Fagerstedt; [2023]
    Keywords : Simultaneous localisation and mapping; direction of arrival; signals of opportunity; extended Kalman filter; positioning;

    Abstract : This thesis considers the problem of using signals of opportunity (SOO) with known direction of arrival (DOA) for aircraft positioning. SOO is a collective name for a wide range of signals not intended for navigation but which can be intercepted by the radar warning system on an aircraft. READ MORE

  2. 2. Towards Adaptive Image Resolution for Visual SLAM on Resource-constrained Devices

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Herman Blenneros; [2023]
    Keywords : Visual localization and mapping; Runtime-control; Resource-constrained devices; Bildbaserad lokalisering och kartläggning; Realtidsreglering; Resursbegränsade enheter;

    Abstract : Today, a large number of devices with small form factors and limited resources are being integrated with processes to perform complex tasks such as localization and mapping. One example of this are headsets used for Extended Reality. READ MORE

  3. 3. Deep Learning-Based Depth Estimation Models with Monocular SLAM : Impacts of Pure Rotational Movements on Scale Drift and Robustness

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Datorseende

    Author : Daniel Bladh; [2023]
    Keywords : Deep Learning; Computer Vision; Monocular; SLAM; Depth Estimation;

    Abstract : This thesis explores the integration of deep learning-based depth estimation models with the ORB-SLAM3 framework to address challenges in monocular Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM), particularly focusing on pure rotational movements. The study investigates the viability of using pre-trained generic depth estimation networks, and hybrid combinations of these networks, to replace traditional depth sensors and improve scale accuracy in SLAM systems. 4. 4. Towards Water Resource Recovery Facilities : Environmentally Extended Techno-Economic Assessment of Emerging Sewage Sludge Management Technologies in Sweden

    University essay from KTH/Hållbar utveckling, miljövetenskap och teknik

    Author : Harry Tibbetts; [2023]
    Keywords : Circular Economy; Waste Valorisation; Systems Analysis; LCA; MFA; EFA; TEA; Hydrothermal Carbonisation; Cirkulär ekonomi; Waste Valorisation; Systems Analysis; LCA; MFA; EFA; TEA; Hydrotermal Carbonization;

    Abstract : Municipal sewage sludge (MSS) management varies widely between countries and legislative regimes. Within the European directive for sewage treatment France applies over half of MSS to arable land, while The Netherlands has banned the practice (Kelessidis et al, 2012). READ MORE

  5. 5. Multiple-Emitter Super-resolution Imaging using the Alternating Descent Conditional Gradient Method

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Beräkningsbiologi och biologisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation; Lunds universitet/Institutionen för astronomi och teoretisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation

    Author : Dolev Illouz; [2023]
    Keywords : super-resolution; alternating descent conditional gradient method; ADCG; multiple-emitter localization; nanoscale imaging; single molecule tracking; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : This thesis examines the state-of-the-art 2D super-resolution technique alternating descent conditional gradient (ADCG) method's ability to accurately localize fluorophores in diffraction-limited single molecule images (SMI) and analyze the impact of pre-processing and post-processing modules on ADCG's fluorophore localization. A synthetic dataset obtained from the 2013 Grand Challenge localization microscopy and a temporally linked dataset obtained from an unpublished set of Optical DNA mapping experiments performed by Jonathan Jeffet at the NanoBioPhotonix Lab at Tel-Aviv University were initially segmented to extract their noise parameters.
