  1. 21. AI Trained to Predict Thresholds of 2D Ellipse Percolation Systems

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Nirav Surajlal; [2021]
    Keywords : Low-dimensional Nanomaterials; Percolation Threshold; Machine Learning; Regression; Two-dimensional Heterogeneous Ellipse System; Lågdimensionella nanomaterial; Perkolering Tröskel; Maskininlärning; Regression; Tvådimensionellt Heterogent Ellipssystem;

    Abstract : Percolation theory is a relevant area of research in Nanotechnology because of its wide applications in nanoelectronics based on thin films of nanoparticles and composites, amongst others. In nanotechnology, systems are often explored through modelling and simulations. READ MORE

  2. 22. LiDAR-Equipped Wireless Sensor Network for Speed Detection on Classification Yards

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Isak Olsson; André Lindgren; [2021]
    Keywords : LiDAR; Internet of Things IoT ; Wireless Sensor Networks WSN ; Classification yards; 6LoWPAN; RANSAC; LiDAR; Sakernas internet; Trådlösa sensornätverk; Rangerbangårdar; 6LoWPAN; RANSAC;

    Abstract : Varje dag kopplas tusentals godsvagnar om på de olika rangerbangårdarna i Sverige. För att kunna automatiskt bromsa vagnarna tillräckligt mycket är det nödvändigt att veta deras hastigheter. En teknik som har blivit populär på sistone är Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) som använder ljus för att mäta avstånd till objekt. READ MORE

  3. 23. Station Capacity and Platform Allocation – A Test Case at Linköping Central Station

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Kommunikations- och transportsystem; Linköpings universitet/Tekniska fakulteten

    Author : Erik Johansson; Hampus Nilsson; [2021]
    Keywords : station capacity; platform allocation; discrete simulation; event-based simulation; railway station; Arena;

    Abstract : Different paths for trains throughout a railway system are more or less convenient, where intersecting train paths require a safety margin in time between different trains to reduce the risks of accidents. Intersecting train paths are just as much of a challenge on a railway station, especially when multiple trains are entering the station close in time. READ MORE

  4. 24. HETEROGENEOUS BATTERY SYSTEMS IN BATTERY EQUIPPED PASSENGER TRAINS

    University essay from Mälardalens högskola/Akademin för innovation, design och teknik

    Author : Emil Lundin; Johan Bergelin; [2021]
    Keywords : LabVIEW; MATLAB; Simulink; Control theory; Battery; Batteries; Li-ion; Heterogeneous batteries; LTO; NMC; Electronics; Electrical; Engineering; Simulation; Trains; SysML; UML; LTSpice; Design of experiments; DOE; Sensor technology; Railway; EV; Electrical vehicles;

    Abstract : The rise of batteries in the industry, especially Li-ion, is increasing rapidly. Li-ion battery systems are traditionally composed of a particular type of cell chemistry fit to the system needs. Due to the significant differences between chemistries, different cells have different attributes. READ MORE

  5. 25. Modified train wheel wear calculation for fast calculation

    University essay from KTH/Spårfordon

    Author : Shaoyao Chen; [2021]
    Keywords : Precise contact point detection; Material Flexibility; Multiple contact points detection; Winkler theory; wear calculation; fast calculation; Exakt detektion av kontaktpunkter; materialflexibilitet; detektering av flera kontaktpunkter; Winkler-teori; förslitningsberäkning; snabb beräkning;

    Abstract : In this thesis, a modified wear calculation method is developed to calculate the train wheel wear, which can give less precise but faster results compared to the classic wear calculation method. This modified method is developed based on the classic wear calculation method developed by Jendel, which uses Hertz theory and Kalker’s simplified theory to calculate the contact variables and uses Achard theory to calculate the wear volume in an iterative manner.
