  1. 1. Analyzing the performance of active learning strategies on machine learning problems

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Avdelningen för systemteknik

    Author : Vendela Werner; [2023]
    Keywords : computer science; bioinformatics; machine learning; active learning; artificial intelligence; supervised learning; Astrazeneca; maskininlärning; artificiell intelligens; datorvetenskap; active learning; bioinformatik; supervised learning;

    Abstract : Digitalisation within industries is rapidly advancing and data possibilities are growing daily. Machine learning models need a large amount of data that are well-annotated for good performance. To get well-annotated data, an expert is needed, which is expensive, and the annotation itself could be very time-consuming. READ MORE

  2. 2. INDUCTIVE RAILWAY SWITCH POINT HEATING : Improved control algorithm and phase compensation analysis for an inductive turnout heating system, and comparison with a resistive heating system

    University essay from Mälardalens universitet/Akademin för ekonomi, samhälle och teknik

    Author : Erik Nordlund; [2023]
    Keywords : Inductive switch point heating; Turnout heating; railway turnout heating; Inductive heating;

    Abstract : Railway turnout heating is essential during the winter because snow and ice can hinder the movement of the switch. In Sweden, heating has traditionally been done using resistive heating wires mounted to the stock rail, but the technology is outdated and generally exhibits low efficiency and performance. 4. 4. The Impact of Demand Patterns and Pathfinding Strategies on Payment Channel Networks

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Johanna Löv; [2023]
    Keywords : Payment Channel Network; Channel Imbalance; Pathfinding; Demand Pattern; Lightning Network;

    Abstract : Payment Channel Networks (PCNs) provide a solution to the scalability problem in blockchain technology. They facilitate multiple-hop transactions via payment channels between peers, allowing for the execution of several transactions before updating each node’s balance on the blockchain. READ MORE

  5. 5. Umeå, Sweden; Becoming a Smart City : How can a city succesfully achieve transforming into a smart city?

    University essay from Jönköping University/IHH, Företagsekonomi

    Author : Cesar Ivan Amador Vazquez; Paulina Ruiz Maya; Regina Pereda Sparrowe; [2022]
    Keywords : smart city; Sweden; Umeå; social innovation; sustainable development;

    Abstract : While several authors have focused on the different components of smart city projects and practicalities for their development in large urban areas, despite the absence of a consensual definition of what a smart city is, limited attention has been given to the transformation process achieved by multi-actor relations derived from a sustained network of social innovation and collaboration in smaller cities. Focusing on the Swedish city of Umeå, this study focuses on answering the research question: How is the city of Umeå achieving a smart city transformation? For this purpose, this manuscript inductively examines the opinions and experience of several professionists and decision-makers involved in smart-city projects for a theoretical identification of the observed social phenomena allowing this sustained development.
