  1. 1. Characterisation of Models of New Physics at the LHC

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Högenergifysik

    Author : Jakub Salko; [2020]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The goal of this thesis is the development and application of model-independent analysis techniques to characterise New Physics states of different kinds from their signatures at the LHC and future colliders. In the first part of the thesis, we outline the general steps from the building of the simplified model and identification of the parameter space to the characterisation potential of the current searches with the focus on the characterisation between different scenarios of Beyond the Standard Model physics. 2. 2. Phenomenology of Exotic Decays of Vector-Like Quark X5/3 into Doubly-Charged ScalarXinto Doubly-Charged Scalar

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Högenergifysik

    Author : Jakub Salko; [2020]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Searches for the Vector-Like Quarks usually look for their signatures assuming they decay purely into Standard Model particles. In this paper, we explore one possible exotic decay of the Vector-Like Quark with electric charge +5/3, X5/3. READ MORE

  3. 3. Reconstruction of challenging signatures characteristic to new physics beyond the Standard Model

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Högenergifysik

    Author : Timmy Lindgren; [2020]
    Keywords : Reconstruction; Identification; photon-jets; ATLAS;

    Abstract : A study of photon-jets and their identification variables computed in the electromagnetic calorimeter of an in-house, ATLAS-like, detector model developed at Uppsala University for full-simulations is presented. The signal, which is based on the Composite Higgs Model, considers the pair production of vector-like top quarks, denoted t', with the successive decays t' to S and a Standard Model top quark and S to two photons, where S is a new pseudo-scalar boson. Abstract : An evaluation of how sensitive some ATLAS searches for new physics are to a new beyond standard model (BSM) vector-like quark (VLQ) and a pseudo Nambu-Goldstone boson (pNGB) scalar. This was done by simulating a signal containing these new particles and making a recast of it onto existing verified ATLAS searches for new physics at center-of-mass (CM) energy of 13 TeV (Run 2) at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). 5. 5. Studies of Hypothetical Vector-Like Quarks at the Large Hadron Collider

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Högenergifysik

    Author : Thomas Mathisen; [2018]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : A study for the search for vector-like quarks and a new pseudo Nambu-Goldstone boson(pNGB) scalar at the LHC running at $\sqrt{s} = 13$ TeV is presented. A model based on the composite Higgs model in which the Higgs boson emerges as a composite pNGB together with a new pNGB $\eta$ is considered. READ MORE
