  1. 1. Measuring copper abundances in the Galactic Bulge

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Astrofysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Nikolei Höglinger; [2024]
    Keywords : Copper; Galaxy: abundances; Galaxy: bulge; Chemical Evolution; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : Context: The chemical evolution of Cu in the Galactic bulge have been studied in a few studies using red giant branch stars, but the ages of individual red giant stars are difficult to determine. In addition, the bulge has been a challenging region of the Milky Way galaxy to obtain high-resolution spectra of stars, except when observing through certain few small fields into the bulge that are known to have low extinction. 2. 2. Polymer gel dosimetry with MRI-readout for 3D dose verification - detector characteristics and clinical applications

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Sjukhusfysikerutbildningen

    Author : Thi Guldhill; [2023]
    Keywords : Medicine and Health Sciences;

    Abstract : Background & Purpose: Radiation therapy is an essential treatment for cancer patients with the ultimate goal to deliver radiation doses to the tumour with precision while minimizing exposure to surrounding healthy tissues. Treatment verification is crucial to ensure the accuracy of radiation delivery, for instance by measuring the radiation dose distribution. READ MORE

  3. 3. An online study of L2 relative clause processing: Evidence from self-paced reading in Persian learners of English

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Allmän språkvetenskap; Lunds universitet/Masterprogram: Språk och språkvetenskap

    Author : Abdolnoor Khaleghi; [2022]
    Keywords : relative clause; online L2 processing; second language comprehension; attachment preference; self-paced reading; heuristic processing; good-enough approach; working memory span.; Languages and Literatures;

    Abstract : This study examines relative clause (RC) processing in Persian learners of English and native speakers of English to explore whether or how different task demands, referential context information with three potential RC antecedents along with the variables noun type (definite, indefinite), RC length (short, long) and RC type (extraposed, non-extraposed) affect their processing, using both an online non-cumulative self-paced reading task and an offline questionnaire. In the self-paced reading task, the online processing of RC attachment resolution was examined when participants read temporarily ambiguous sentences with RCs preceded by one clause or two clauses containing three NPs followed by comprehension questions to explore L2 RC attachment preferences. 4. 4. Elemental variability in tree-rings as indicator for climate change : a case study on beech and oak trees at the Laacher See, Germany

    University essay from Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi

    Author : Ann-Kathrin Wild; [2022]
    Keywords : trace elements; tree-rings; dendrochemistry; dendroclimatology; ITRAX; Laacher See; mofettes; tree-bark; Quercus sp.; Fagus sp.;

    Abstract : The aim of this study was to contribute to the comprehension of the connection of element uptake in trees at the Laacher See in Germany and climatic parameters on different time scales. Understanding the relationship of certain elements in trees and temperature might enable the assignment of extraordinary high peaks in the elemental concentration, which cannot be explained by temperature, to another process as CO2 degassing of the mofettes, which are relics of the volcanic past of the lake. 5. 5. Prerequisites for Extracting Entity Relations from Swedish Texts

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Erik Lenas; [2020]
    Keywords : Machine Learning; Natural Language Processing; Relation Extraction; Named Entity Recognition; Coreference resolution; BERT; Maskininlärning; Natural Language Processing; Relationsextrahering; Named Entity Recognition; Coreference resolution; BERT;

    Abstract : Natural language processing (NLP) is a vibrant area of research with many practical applications today like sentiment analyses, text labeling, questioning an- swering, machine translation and automatic text summarizing. At the moment, research is mainly focused on the English language, although many other lan- guages are trying to catch up. READ MORE
