  1. 11. Aeolian and Pedogenic Processes of Loess in Southern England

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Author : Ragna Orbe; [2019]
    Keywords : loess; Pegwell Bay; grain size distribution; magnetic susceptibility; past-climate reconstruction; lössavlagringar; Pegwell Bay; partikelstorleks distribution; magnetisk mottaglighet; historisk klimatrekonstruktion;

    Abstract : Loess is an aeolian sediment that can be utilized as a detailed proxy of past climate, since it is one of few sediments that is deposited directly from the atmosphere on land. Investigation of loess deposits can give understanding of past regional and local wind circulation patterns and velocities, atmospheric dustiness, as well as paleo-precipitation and weathering conditions. 2. 12. Corrosion initiation induced by sodium sulfate and sodium chloride particles on Cu and the golden alloy Cu5Al5Zn at simulated atmospheric conditions

    University essay from KTH/Materialvetenskap

    Author : Weijie Zhao; [2017]
    Keywords : atmospheric corrosion; sodium sulfate; sodium chloride; Cu5Al5Zn; Cu metal; mixed salt pre-deposition; laboratory exposure; LOM; SEM EDS; ATR-FTIR; cathodic reduction;

    Abstract : Effects of sodium sulfate (Na2SO4) particle deposition on the atmospheric corrosion of copper (Cu) metal and a Cu-based alloy (Cu5Al5Zn) used in architectural applications were investigated at laboratory conditions compared with effects induced by sodium chloride (NaCl) and to some extent ammonium sulfate (NH4)2SO4 induced corrosion. Pre-deposited surfaces were exposed to repeated wet/dry conditions in a climatic chamber and the formation of corrosion products were assessed using light optical microscopy (LOM), scanning electron microscopy with elemental analysis (SEM/EDS), Fourier transform infrared techniques (FTIR microscopy) and cathodic reduction (CR). 3. 13. Tribological studies on multifunctional hardfacings for friction control at high temperatures

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Maskinelement

    Author : Todor Vuchkov; [2017]
    Keywords : high temperature tribology; laser cladding; solid lubricants;

    Abstract : Mechanical components operating at elevated temperatures can be identified in the aerospace industry as well as in metal forming. Hot stamping is a metal forming technique utilized for manufacturing high strength lightweight components for the automotive industry. READ MORE

  4. 14. Trophic transfer of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) by glacial relicts in Lake Vättern, Sweden

    University essay from Örebro universitet/Institutionen för naturvetenskap och teknik

    Author : Malin Bergman; [2017]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The aim with the study was to assess if glacial relict amphipods constitute as vectors of transport of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) in the Arctic char food web in Lake Vättern, Sweden. Sediment, surface water and biota samples were analysed for PFASs using ultra-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS), and stable isotope analysis of δ 13C and δ15N was performed on sediments and biota samples. 5. 15. Rear side BSF/emitter patterning of SHJ-IBC solar cells using selective deposition and hydrogen plasma etching of a-Si:H

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för informations- och kommunikationsteknik (ICT)

    Author : Mahmudul Hasan; [2016]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Silicon heterojunction interdigitated back-contact (SHJ-IBC) solar cells have attracted considerable attention because of their potential to achieve very highly efficiency. However, the back contacting scheme leads to additional fabrication complexity mainly resulting from the formation of interdigitated n- (back surface field (BSF)) and p-type (emitter) hydrogenated amorphous silicon (aSi:H) strips.
