  1. 11. Development and testing of a novel solar dryer design with an incorporated heat exchanger - For use in the Himalayan regions

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för energivetenskaper

    Author : Adam Probert; [2022]
    Keywords : Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Food scarcity is a common occurrence for farmers in the rural Himalayan regions. As fruits and vegetables are a crucial part of most farmers' diet, food deficiency can become evident in between harvesting periods, when there is no fresh supply. READ MORE

  2. 12. Background Studies of the High-Intensity Baryon Extraction and Measurement (HIBEAM) Experiment at the European Spallation Source

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Blahoslav Rataj; [2021]
    Keywords : Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : The High-Intensity Baryon Extraction and Measurement experiment (HIBEAM) is proposed as one of the experimental stations at the European Spallation Source (ESS). This experiment will mainly focus on the neutron into sterile neutron oscillations which violate the baryon number (B) by one unit. READ MORE

  3. 13. Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) and Bayesian Inference for Gravitational Waves

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Astronomi - Genomgår omorganisation

    Author : Christine Andersson; [2021]
    Keywords : Gravitational Waves; LISA; LISA mission; Bayesian Inference; Markov Chain Monte Carlo; MCMC; Bayes’ Theorem; stochastic sampling; Metropolis Hastings; histograms; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : The Laser Interferometer Space Antenna (LISA) is a space borne gravitational wave detec- tor set to launch in 2034, with the objective of detecting and studying the Gravitational Waves (GWs) of our universe. So far, ground-based detectors such as the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO) have been successful in detecting GWs, but the limitations of ground based detectors is what makes LISA so special. 4. 14. Optimisation of line of sight matching to obtain wind vectors from the SIW satellite

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för system- och rymdteknik

    Author : Theresia Hestad; [2021]
    Keywords : Remote sensing; Wind measurements; Middle atmosphere; Retrieval; Scan bias; Satellite;

    Abstract : SIW, Stratospheric Inferred Winds, is one of the upcoming Swedish research satellites, aiming to study the winds in the middle atmosphere by measuring the Doppler shifts in molecules such as O3 with a limb viewing sub-mm spectrometer. By conducting simulations on the expected observations, the pointing sensitivity requirement of the satellite was investigated to be able to optimise the matching of the wind vectors. READ MORE

  5. 15. Primordial Gravitational Waves and ultra-light Dark Matter in a complex singlet extended Standard Model

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysik; Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation

    Author : Sara Wildenor; [2021]
    Keywords : theoretical physics; gravitational waves; dark matter; complex singlet extended standard model; LISA; BBO; DECIGO; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : In this thesis, the consequences of extending the internal symmetries of the standard model with a complex singlet scalar field, are investigated in terms of dark matter phenomenology and the possibility of primordial gravitational wave detection utilizing space based laser interferometry. The scalar potential of the model is constructed with a Z2 symmetry, which allows for the retainment of a linear and a quadratic coupling parameter, as well as a stable dark matter candidate, and an additional non-zero vacuum expectation value for the real component of the scalar field.
