  1. 21. Elastic hyperspectral lidar for detecting coherent backscatter from insects

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Förbränningsfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Lauro Müller; [2022]
    Keywords : Nanosopy; Thin film physics; Hyperspectral; Lidar; Super continuum; Insects; Coherent scattering; Infrared Spectroscopy; Hyperspectral Imaging; Biophotonics; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Insects play a major role in the ecosystem and are an important factor for biodiversity. Using laser remote sensing to distinguish and monitor the millions of insects in-situ, holds large potential to speed up and improve the otherwise time consuming process of trapping and subsequent analysis. 2. 22. Dynamic Stopping for Artificial Neural Networks

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Beräkningsbiologi och biologisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation

    Author : Daniel Louis Hubert Lizotte; [2022]
    Keywords : Artificial Neural Network; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : The growing popularity of Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) demands continuous improvement and optimization of the training process to achieve higher-performing algorithms at a lower computational cost. During training an ANN learns to solve a problem by looking at examples, and will iteratively go over a dataset to reach an optimal performance. READ MORE

  3. 23. Simulations of current transport phenomena in ferroelectric tunnel junctions

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för elektro- och informationsteknik

    Author : Ivan Lubar; [2022]
    Keywords : Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Ferroelectric memories pose as a potential candidate as resistive memory devices that could be used for in-memory computing and artificial synapses. One promising type of ferroelectric memory device is the ferroelectric tunnel junction (FTJ). READ MORE

  4. 24. Simulating and Testing the Polarimetric Response of the X-ray Polarimetry Telescope XL-Calibur

    University essay from KTH/Fysik

    Author : Filip af Malmborg; [2022]
    Keywords : Astroparticle Physics; Astrophysics; Detector Physics; Simulation; Theoretical Physics; Engineering Physics; Astropartikelfysik; Astropartikelfysik; Detektorfysik; Simulering; Teoretisk Fysik; Teknisk Fysik;

    Abstract : X-ray polarimetry, the study of the polarisation of X-ray light, is a powerful and rapidly developing tool for astrophysics, which promises to help answer outstanding questions about the physics of extreme objects such as pulsars, X-ray binaries and active galactic nuclei. The balloon-borne telescope XL-Calibur will be the first instrument to study the polarisation of hard X-rays (with energies between 10 and 100 keV) in detail, correlating with the soft X-ray observations of IXPE to provide further tests of polarisation-dependent x-ray emission models in extreme objects. 5. 25. Numerical Simulations of Wave Propagation between a Left-Handed Material and a Right-Handed Material

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Balwan Rana; [2021]
    Keywords : Negative-Index Material; NIM; Positive-Index Material; RHM; Backward- Wave Propagation; Step-Index Interface; Graded-Index Interface; Left-Handed Material; LHM; Right-Handed Material; RHM; Analytical Solution; Validation; Negativt-Index Material; NIM; Positivt-Index Material; PIM; Bakåtvåg-utbredning; Steg-Index Gränssnitt; Gradering-Index Gränssnitt; Vänsterhänt Material; LHM; Högerhänt Material; RHM; Analytisk Lösning; Validering;

    Abstract : The discovery of metamaterials has led to major advances in different fields of physics including optics, microwave engineering and acoustics. Specific to theoretical electromagnetism, the introduction of metamaterials have led to the development of negative-index materials (NIMs) with simultaneous negative permittivity and negative permeability with backward-wave propagation.
