  1. 1. Quantum Optical Description of High-order Harmonic Generation

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Atomfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Isabel Moreno; [2024]
    Keywords : Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : High-order Harmonic Generation (HHG) is a highly non-linear process in which an atom interacts with a strong laser field. The laser field lowers the atomic potential barrier allowing bound electrons to escape into the continuum through tunnel ionization, propagate, and, with some probability, recombine with the parent ion. 2. 2. Semi-Classical Calculations of Multiple Trajectories in High-Harmonic Generation

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Atomfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Tom Causer; [2021]
    Keywords : hhg; high harmonic generation; trajectories; xuv; semi-classical; multiple; third trajectory; further; matlab; hhg approximation; simulation; far-field; near-field; fourier transform; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the High-Harmonic Generation (HHG) process by simulating electron trajectories, and their resulting Extreme Ultra Violet (XUV) output. The HHG process is one in which a focused beam of infrared (IR) light can rival (in terms of intensity) the potentials of atoms, which makes tunnelling likely -- this sets off a chain of events resulting in an XUV pulse. 3. 3. High Harmonic Generation in Hollow Core Waveguides

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Atomfysik

    Author : Aaron Von Conta; [2012]
    Keywords : Phase-matching; High Harmonic Generation; HHG; Strong Field Approximation; SFA; Atomic Dipole Phase; Hollow Core Waveguides; Mode Propagation; Quantum Optics; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : The main goal of this thesis is to initiate a set of experiments on high-order harmonic generation (HHG) in hollow core waveguides and to verify a higher conversion efficiency of HHG in waveguides compared to classical HHG schemes. High harmonics are in this context electromagnetic waves generated by focusing laser light into a dilute noble gas. READ MORE
