  1. 1. A Conjugate Residual Solver with Kernel Fusion for massive MIMO Detection

    University essay from Högskolan i Halmstad/Centrum för forskning om tillämpade intelligenta system (CAISR)

    Author : Ioannis Broumas; [2023]
    Keywords : MIMO; massive MIMO; GPU; CUDA; Software Defined Radio; SDR; MMSE; ZF; zero-forcing; parallel detection; iterative methods; conjugate residual; parallel computing; kernel fusion;

    Abstract : This thesis presents a comparison of a GPU implementation of the Conjugate Residual method as a sequence of generic library kernels against implementations ofthe method with custom kernels to expose the performance gains of a keyoptimization strategy, kernel fusion, for memory-bound operations which is to makeefficient reuse of the processed data. For massive MIMO the iterative solver is to be employed at the linear detection stageto overcome the computational bottleneck of the matrix inversion required in theequalization process, which is 𝒪(𝑛3) for direct solvers. 2. 2. Exploration of Radar Cross Section Models and Distributed Sensing Techniques in JCAS Cell-free Massive MIMO

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Qinglin Zou; [2023]
    Keywords : Joint communication and sensing; Cell-free massive MIMO; Swerling models; Distributed Sensing; Gemensam kommunikation och avkänning; Cellfri massiv MIMO; Swerling modeller; Distributed Sensing;

    Abstract : Joint Communication and Sensing (JCAS) technology enables the sharing of infrastructure, resources, and signals between communication and sensing. However, studying the performance and algorithms using appropriate target reflectivity models for detection poses a significant challenge. READ MORE

  3. 3. Acceleration of Massive MIMO algorithms for Beyond 5G Baseband processing

    University essay from Högskolan i Halmstad/Akademin för informationsteknologi

    Author : Ellen Nihl; Eek de Bruijckere; [2023]
    Keywords : embedded systems; massive MIMO; GPU; massive MIMO detection; Zero-Forcing algorithm; Cholesky decomposition; CUDA; 5G and Beyond;

    Abstract : As the world becomes more globalised, user equipment such as smartphones and Internet of Things devices require increasingly more data, which increases the demand for wireless data traffic. Hence, the acceleration of next-generational networks (5G and beyond) focuses mainly on increasing the bitrate and decreasing the latency. READ MORE

  4. 4. Efficient High-level Synthesis Implementation of massive MIMO Processing on RFSoC

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för elektro- och informationsteknik

    Author : Sijia Cheng; [2022]
    Keywords : Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) refers to a wireless access technology that equips base station (BS) with hundreds to thousands of antennas to serve tens of user equipment (UE) in the same time-frequency resource. These extensive antennas improve spectral and energy efficiency, but the detection algorithms tend to be more complex with operations, multiplications, and inversions on larger size matrix.
