  1. 16. Polygeneration system model in rural areas of Colombia : Filipinas ETCR as a case of study

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för industriell teknik och management (ITM)

    Author : Nestor Ruiz Crespo; [2021]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : This project has addressed the design of a cost-effective Polygeneration system that guarantees a continuous, equitable and environmentally friendly energy supply for the rural settlement of Filipinas ETCR, (in Spanish, Espacios Territoriales de Capacitación y Reincorporación) Colombia, which is currently not achieved, due to a system that relies on the national electricity grid (with numerous outages) and on LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) and wood to meet the thermal demand, mainly for cooking. For this purpose, in addition to the current energy supply situation, the energy demand according to type (electricity and heat) and sector (residential, commercial and agro-livestock) is characterized. 2. 17. Stabilizing biogas processes at high ammonia : effects of acetate pulse-feeding on the microbial population

    University essay from SLU/Department of Molecular Sciences

    Author : Oscar Dolk; [2020]
    Keywords : biogas; anaerobic digestion; ammonia inhibition; acetate enrichment;

    Abstract : This study investigated the problem of ammonia inhibition in biogas reactors, commonly occurring when protein rich substrates are used in anaerobic digestion processes. Ammonia inhibition is one of the foremost causes of failure in anaerobic digestion, leading to process instability, with symptoms commonly expressed as; reduction in biogas produced, decreased methane content in the gas and accumulation of volatile fatty acids. 3. 18. The two-Higgs-doublet modelas an explanation for the muon (g−2) discrepancy

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation

    Author : Zenny Wettersten; [2020]
    Keywords : Beyond Standard Model; BSM; CP violation; Higgs Physics; two Higgs doublet model; 2hdm; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : The general Z2-violating two-Higgs-doublet model (2HDM) is analysed as an explanation for the discrepancy between Standard Model predictions and experimental measurements of the muon anomalous magnetic dipole moment ∆aµ, with the condition that it does not provide an electron electric dipole moment |eEDM| larger than experimental bounds. Several point studies of individual 2HDM parameter space points are made to show large-scale cancellation among Barr-Zee 2-loop contributions to |eEDM| at large Yukawa lepton sector magnitudes, as well as an approximately linear growth of total aµ contribution when those magnitudes are rescaled by a common factor, reaching the same order as ∆aµ. 4. 19. Using embedded systems to optimize the care of indoor plants

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Anton Åbonde; Simon Salas Amnér; [2020]
    Keywords : Internet of Things; Embedded Systems; Sensors; Indoor Environment; Sakernas internet; Inbyggda system; Sensorer; Inomhusmiljö;

    Abstract : Over the last few years the interest in indoor plants has increased. Whether they are used for decorating, as mood boosters or sometimes as food in cooking, people want to come closer to nature by bringing it into their homes. However removing plants from their natural habitat could have negative implications on their well-being. READ MORE

  5. 20. Delivering sustainable energy transition : A techno-economic analysis on households, businesses and communities of the Keweenaw Peninsula

    University essay from KTH/Energiteknik

    Author : Francesca Longobardi; Filippo Padovani; [2020]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Energy security understood as the practice by which risks associated with interruptions to the energy supply are low, represents one of the main objectives of energy policies in many countries. In this context, Keweenaw County or Michigan's northernmost County is placed as locked in an unreliable, unsustainable and particularly wasteful energy system. READ MORE
