  1. 21. Sunshade Demonstrator Spacecraft Earth Sphere of Influence Escape Using a Propellant-free AOCS

    University essay from KTH/Rymdteknik

    Author : Leonardo Ricci; [2021]
    Keywords : Solar sail; Solar radiation pressure; Attitude control; Escape trajectory; Centre of pressure; Disturbance Torques; Eclipse.; Solsegel; Solstrålningstryck; Attitydkontroll; Flyktbana; Tryckcentrum; Störningsmoment; Eclipse.;

    Abstract : This thesis provides insights to what is peculiar about a solar sail attitude and orbit control system and provides the assessment, in the form of a feasibility study, of the effectiveness of sail tip vanes as a control hardware to escape the Earth sphere of influence. The demonstrator aims to prove the technology for the Sunshade project, a constellation of solar sails located at the Lagrangian point L1 to obscure part of the solar radiation directed towards earth. 2. 22. Error Injection Study for a SpaceFibre In-Orbit Demonstrator

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Carlos Abad Garcia; [2020]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The space electronics sector is shifting towards the New-Space paradigm, in which traditional space-quali_ed and expensive components and payloads are replaced by commercial o_-the-shelf (COTS) alternatives. This change in mentality is accompanied by the development of inexpensive cubesats, lowering the entry barrie in terms of cost, enabling an increase in scienti_c research in space. READ MORE

  3. 23. FORESAIL-2 AOCS Trade Studies and Design

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för system- och rymdteknik

    Author : Guillaume Le Bonhomme; [2020]
    Keywords : space engineering; CubeSat; ADCS; AOCS; spacecraft subystems; nanosatellite;

    Abstract : This thesis aims to design a reliable CubeSat platform, including the avionic subsystems that can sustain a high radiation environment for a mission having a lifetime of at least six months. The science instruments put stringent requirements on the platform to achieve and maintain the desired spin rate. READ MORE

  4. 24. Methods to operate and evaluate the performance of a cold-gas CubeSat propulsion system on a magnetically stabilised satellite

    University essay from KTH/Rymdteknik

    Author : Victor Alberto Gonzalez Marin; [2020]
    Keywords : Propulsion system; CubeSat; Performance; Operating procedure; Mission experiment; Framdrivningssystem; CubeSat; Prestanda; Driftsrutin; Driftprov;

    Abstract : Propulsion systems allow satellites to perform many functionalities in space, such as orbital station keeping, reentry control, attitude control, orbital transferring, rendezvous operation, and even more thrilling, interplanetary travel. Indeed, propulsion systems in satellites have fostered a new favourable era of space exploration and application, therefore, detailed processes to operate propulsion systems need to be developed so that space missions, carrying this valuable system, are completed successfully. 5. 25. Simulation and control toolkit for small satellite projects

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Rymdteknik

    Author : Adam Śmiałek; [2020]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Spacecraft project management calls for division of project lifetime into phases, with specific goals to be fulfilled at the end of each phase. During first few phases a Preliminary Design Review (PDR) has to be conducted, after which top-level hardware design is not to be changed. READ MORE
