  1. 1. Development of a Method to Measure Residual Stresses in Cast Components with Complex Geometries

    University essay from KTH/Materialvetenskap

    Author : Yang Yang; [2020]
    Keywords : Residual Stresses; Cast Iron; Engine Components; XRD; Ultrasonic; Cutting;

    Abstract : Cast iron, taking the advantages of the advanced castability forming components of complex geometries and favorable mechanical properties, is employed in engine components in truck industries. Compacted graphite iron (CGI) integrates both merits of lamellar graphite iron (LGI) and spheroidal graphite iron (SGI) such as good machinability and high thermal conductivity from LGI, high ultimate tensile strength (UTS), good fatigue resistance, high elastic modulus, and high ductility from SGI, thus is now becoming a competitive alternative of traditional LGI in cylinder blocks and heads. 2. 2. Spatiotemporal reconstructions of black carbon, organic matter and heavy metals in coastal records of south-west Sweden

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Author : Marcus Rudolf; [2016]
    Keywords : organic matter; spheroidal carbonaceous particles; black carbon; geology; physical geography; Ecosystem analysis; heavy metals; coastal sediments; Sweden; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : This study presents reconstructions of black carbon (BC), including spheroidal and amorphous carbonaceous particles (SCP and ACP), organic matter (OM; total organic carbon, TOC; total nitrogen, TN; total sulfur, TS), and heavy metals (Fe, Zn, Pb, Cu, As and Hg) in coastal sediments off the south-west coast of Sweden. Sediment records from eight stations along a north-south transect off the south-west of Sweden were retrieved. READ MORE

  3. 3. Numerical simulation of an inertial spheroidal particle in Stokes flow

    University essay from KTH/Numerisk analys, NA

    Author : Joar Bagge; [2015]
    Keywords : Fluid mechanics; Stokes flow; rigid body dynamics; spheroidal particles; inertia; integral equations; boundary integrals; double layer potentials; quadrature by expansion; Jeffery orbits; linear shear flow; quadratic flow; paraboloidal flow; Strömningsmekanik; Stokesflöde; stelkroppsdynamik; sfäroidiska partiklar; tröghet; integralekvationer; randintegraler; dubbellagerpotentialer; quadrature by expansion; Jeffery-banor; linjärt skjuvflöde; kvadratiskt flöde; paraboloidiskt flöde;

    Abstract : Particle suspensions occur in many situations in nature and industry. In this master’s thesis, the motion of a single rigid spheroidal particle immersed in Stokes flow is studied numerically using a boundary integral method and a new specialized quadrature method known as quadrature by expansion (QBX). 4. 4. Study of Dross in Ductile Cast Iron Main Shafts

    University essay from Karlstads universitet/Fakulteten för hälsa, natur- och teknikvetenskap (from 2013)

    Author : Sofia Andersson; [2015]
    Keywords : Dross; Mg treatment; Main shafts; Ductile cast iron;

    Abstract : The study of dross in ductile cast iron main shafts was performed at Global Castings Guldsmedshyttan AB and presented in this master thesis. The purpose of the study was to obtain answers to why dross defects were present in some of the foundry's casted main shafts, with the main problem located at the flange of the shaft. READ MORE
