Abstract: As the world moves away from fossil fuels, microgrids have garnered attention for their ability toaid the deployment of sustainable energy alternatives. Residential microgrid technology hasproven to be a useful aid in the design of the power grid of the future. As society moves towardsmore renewable energy, more sophisticated energy solutions are required. This paper proposesa modeling approach for a residential hybrid AC/DC microgrid using Matlab and Simulink. Thesystem consists of a photovoltaic (PV) system for DC generation, battery storage, and thepotential for grid connection to enable reliable and efficient power. The paper discusses themodeling process and performance during various operating conditions. Simulation results showthe system's performance in terms of power generation, and storage as well as the impact offactors such as solar irradiation levels. The proposed model could be a valuable tool for furtherstudy and optimization for residential hybrid AC/DC microgrid systems.
